Unrequited first love.
That is a 3 word sentence no one recovers from.
To discover love with someone who would only notice your absence when it was final.
His hands wondered even when his bed was warm,
His eyes unfaithful even when I was by his side,
His lips worshipped even when they were still stained with my lipstick.
Love is empty.
Love is a gutting.
Love is painful.
I learned what love was from someone devoid of it.
I pray every night that this lesson of love doesn’t stick,
But unrequited first love is something no one recovers from.

WV I write about you a lot because you robbed me of the true meaning of first love. I’m still picking up the pieces you spilled. I hope you fix yourself and regret what you did to me someday. But hoping can only go so far. So I’ll find a way to heal and you’ll keep filling the void the only way you know how.
