Stars and Humans

Here's what I know

you contain carbon and calcium

and they are full of fire

and you both

have hydrogen flowing through you

they are stars

and you are human

Here is what I know

matter can not be destroyed

only changed

and all that carbon and hydrogen

had to go somewhere

you were a star

and they are now human

Here is what I believe

if we tried hard enough

we could chart the parts of us

that once danced together in the sky

and cobble together our old constellations

we are all stars

and we are all human

Here is what I believe

if you stripped us down

and laid all our atoms out

we would be able to observe

just how similar we really are

we are all stars

and we are all human
