I want to be what keeps you dancing

on those nights where you can’t do

anything but raise your arms to the sky

and yell up to the heavens that you’ve

reached the conclusion of an infinity

I want to meet you when we’re both drunk

on the hope and lost promises taught to us

by the people that raised us permanently

and threw us into the deep end of life’s pool

drowning us into what we didn’t know

I want you to always challenge me to be

something that I want to be but I’m not

and for me to cry with you when it all seems

just so pointless that it doesn’t matter

and for us to be able to hold each other

I want a lot of things that I can’t have

when it comes to what we could’ve been

and I know that you’ve seen it too

how much you hate knowing that I’m right

this isn’t the end of our story together.
