     My Colors

               I dressed up all nice

               In a world all black and white

               I took the rainbow

               Above my head

               And painted my skin a new

               I painted my lips and eyes

               For all who could see the color

               Would know they are not alone

               But only the ones who cared

               Could see

               We hid in plain sight

               Laughing and dancing together

               “Just friends” we always said

               If only the other knew

               But they can’t

               They could never

               They don’t know the light

               The rainbow that fills the sky

               They can’t see the color

               That’s on our lips and in our eyes

               The colors that took over my heart

               Corrupted my mind

               And filled my skies
