When you came into the life I knew what my purpose was for when I saw you
Was to protect and love with all my heart
When your mom told me she was having you I questioned if I was suited to be called your aunt
But when I saw you that day I knew
I would risk my own life to protect yours
When your mom had to heal I spent my time with you
Watching you making sure you were safe
I slept with you to keep you company
When you ate I ate with you
When you were achieving milestones I cheered you on
Yes I got mad but for a reason to teach you that life was not handing you things for free
Yet I know your a year old I want to teach you what life is
I fell into being your guardian when your mom got tired
But I didn’t care most the time I still got to spend time with you
Like I said I would put my life on the line for you
Yet you are teaching me how to be ready
So I can protect your cousins if I have kids
I want to love you like you are my own
