2023 Recap

Hello PA!! I saw Elvie make a post like this and asked if I could as well. So here's my recap of everything that happened in 2023!!

This will be highlighting big things that happened each month (that's pet/animal related), or things that I have done for my pets throughout the year!

January

Copper woke up from brumation! Each year Copper will fall asleep around September-October and he usually sleeps until around December-February depending on the outside temperature. He woke up January 6th!

This was Brambles first trip outside! It was just a quick trip to the local petsmart but he did SO good. At least until a reactive dog had lunged at us & we had to go hide by the cat trees.

February

After a month of harness & leash training, Nevermore went outside for the first time! He did well but he definitely liked the indoors a lot more.

I got my first tattoo!! I also got a small moon with it as well on my other hand. This happened just two days after i turned 18 as it was a birthday present from my sister!

March

Mango unfortunately ed away due to Crypto, a disease she had from the pet store I had rescued her from (a worker had given her to me because they thought she was blind).

Nevermore had his first trip to the pet store!! Bramble had ed him to help him keep calm.

Nevermore got neutered! I had saved up for a few months to get him neutered so that I wouldn't have to worry about him darting out the door and getting a female pregnant.

Bramble turned a year old on March 28. Unfortunately I hadn't been able to do anything special because it was raining, but he got plenty of cuddles and treats.

April

My first ever betta fish that I had owned with proper care ed away. He had taught me so much about how to care for bettas & got me addicted to Koi Plakats. I still don't know why he ed, but I assume that it was because he came from a petsmart.

I upgraded my reptile room! It cost me almost $200 to buy the shelves but it made my reptile room look SO MUCH better!!

Took Copper to go sunbathe by the Altamaha River, and socialized him a little bit. Also so I wasn't so alone during the birthday party :joy:

May

Took in Mouse, a kitten that I had fostered for a few months!

June

Zoey lost a lot of her excess weight that she needed to! Went from potato to a slim girl!

Visited the GA Aquarium for the first time! This was such a fun trip, and honestly I can't wait until I can visit Atlanta to go again!

July

Unfortunately Coffee Bean had also ed away due to crypto. I believe I accidentally cross contaminated something from mango before I knew what crypto was.

I made a frame and chat bubble set based off of my moms betta fish, Agate. It was my first ever set and ultimately it had gotten me addicted to making them.

August

I got a light box early on in August. This is also around the time I ed the lightroom app both to hopefully improve the photography that I post. Both of which helped!

I ended up getting wrapped into getting a german shepherd. I'm not going to get in details, but I never actually said yes to owning her & had to give her back in September because not only was I not ready but I couldn't provide the life she needed because I had hit financial troubles.

September

I gave Remi (the german shepherd) back on the 13th.

October

I bought another beta whom I named Kismet. I only had him for a little bit before I went on a four day long trip and came back to him half dead due to my mom over feeding him & not checking the water parameters. He ed that week.

Due to financial problems that I had to get rid of Remi for, I also realized just how hard I was struggling with on taking care of the cats. Because I couldn't afford to take them to the vets and I was struggling to buy necessities such as food & litter, I also rehomed all three to homes that could provide more than I could.

November

I tried my hand at fish photography with my moms community fish tank.and honestly was very happy with how things had turned out.

December

Copper woke up a couple weeks earlier than expected, but nonetheless i'm very happy that he's up and about!
