Sooo,, my rats keep tearing the mats off their platforms, I've used velcro tape (which I ordered not knowing we already had some  ) and tried tying them down, but they're just gonna do what they want to do :joy: see if I try and do something nice for them again (totally joking btw my pets are my life) anyway, I've got some hammocks coming in the mail, can I substitute their stupid bar platforms for hammocks? Has anyone else done that? Did they like it? Thanks :relaxed:

yes you can take out the levels. it makes the cage more active too. it may just be an issue if you have older rats that have trouble moving around & may need help climbing &stuff like that
I did and they totally are way more active! I'll upgrade their cages to something with solid ramps and levels before they're adults
I totally plan on replacing the metal ramps on my cage for tunnel hammocks and other items
If you have enough hammocks I don't see the harm. However as your rats get older they may need the platforms again
I'll need to upgrade their cages way before they're adults, I'm probably just gonna get ferret nation or critter nation since theirs aren't bars and they're pretty decently sized

Get a critter nation it's much more appropriate
