Who would you prefer as US President?

With an election coming in a matter of months, there might still be a chance that Trump will be out of office soon.

As we know, he isn't exactly friendly when it comes to the LGBTQIA+ Community.

I'm not here to discuss the election or Trump, though.

This is your opportunity to tell us who you would like to be President of the USA.

It doesn't have to be any of the running candidates.

It can be anybody at all who would be eligible to hold office.

Even if you aren't a citizen or resident of the US, feel free to in.

Nominate a name and why you think they might be good for the role.

Personally, I believe the person for the job needs to take the LGBTQIA+ Community seriously.

While marriage equality has been achieved across most US states, there are still many states where homophobia and transphobia are still major issues.

There's still a very long way to go until people can feel safe to be themselves, to feel safe to come out as who they are, whether they are pansexual, omnisexual, polysexual, gay, lesbian, bisexual, asexual, genderfluid, non-binary or however each individual identifies.

People shouldn't be living in fear and suffering severe mental health challenges, being afraid of their own families and the prospect of being made homeless.

For all those that feel these things and more, I totally understand and I'm very sorry.

I wish I could perform magic and take all your suffering away. I really do.

Ideally, whoever holds the office of US President would be a member of the LGBTQIA+ Community, that would make reforms in our favour a priority.

If you fix this situation, you fix many other issues in turn.

Most US Presidents have been Caucasian males.

I'd like to see the US President not only being an LGBTQIA+ person but perhaps also either a female or a non-binary person of Native American or African-American background.

I've considered Oprah Winfrey as an example of a candidate but she lacks the LGBTQIA+ hip.

Maybe Janelle Monáe, perhaps?

An African-American female pansexual seems a good breaking of that 'heterosexual white male' model that's been in office for too many decades.
