As promised, here's a blog about privacy, following the very recent poll, where 92.1% of respondents valued their privacy.

So you think your privacy is protected?

Read on.

We all like having our privacy.

In fact, privacy is something a lot of people tend to take for granted.

When you read this blog, you might think again.

Google is under fire for lying to us.

Apparently, we are led to believe that turning off 'Location' will prevent Google and other apps from tracking your every move.

WRONG.

Google is still tracking you.

Every time you use Google Maps, they keep a record of where you are.

When you go on the web, they collect data about you.

For instance, I have GPS and Location services turned off yet every day, I get a personalised weather report pop up in my notifications.

How else do they know where I live?

Tracking me, of course!

They are doing this with around 2 billion s of their Android operating system.

iPhone s aren't immune either.

To make things even worse, there is talk where I live of legislation being put to the Parliament for Google and Apple to require social media platforms such as Facebook and apps such as Whatsapp to allow the private messages of s to be read by police, even if they are encrypted.

The reasoning is to fight crime and they are targeting sex offenders and terrorists.

Games such as Fortnite are also included in this as it has messaging enabled.

There is objection from some lobby groups but we're talking about the Government here.

There was objection previously in collecting our meta data and that became law.

I see the benefits in using such a law to read our private messages to reduce crime but at what cost.

If our privacy is at stake, that's going to cause even more distrust of the Government.

For every good 'solution', there is always a bad twist.

Criminals will simply find another way while those of use who aren't plotting to blow up the world or abuse innocent people will remain in the firing line, exposed and vulnerable to our information being misused by corrupt officials.

It might be 2018 but it sure feels like 1984.

If this becomes law, it sets a precedent for other countries to follow suit and enact similar laws.

This legislation might not be law just yet but there is a way where your messages can already be read.

The Amino states

Not surprised. Most major corporations, such as Google, Facebook, Twitter, etc don't keep our things private. The deal with Facebook wasn't long ago and now Google always keeping a dot on you like you're some wanted criminal hiding from the FBI or some shit. For those of you who didn't know this, then now you do, and don't always expect you're safe just because you're behind a screen. Like I said, MOST major cooperations keep a tab om everyone, as well as most governments.

Don't say, don't search, don't anything you'll regret because it'll come bite you in the ass later.

Oh, dang. The fact that they want to read private messages is stupid. Well, it does solve a problem, but honestly, what kind of terrorist or other offender is gonna talk about what they did or are going to do in a chat? I mean, come on.

A lot of them do, actually.

Many predators try to lure people to talk on WhatsApp because it's supposed to be encrypted but police here want my Government to allow them to read those messages as well as on Facebook, Fortnite and other apps.

My issue is, peeps here for instance that haven't come out; why should their messages get read and their secret revealed? People should come out when they are ready.

Wait, really? And about those who haven't come out, I agree that they shouldn't have to have their sexuality be known like that before they can say anything. I know the feeling as I am one of those people.

Kinda is, Government already views half of your social media things. We just don’t know it. This just takes the warrant part out of it.

I’m glad you made a post about this for awareness to those who don’t know. Even me myself didn’t know about this. I can understand why they’re doing this, but I guess we have to be careful with our actions here. Besides, now people will also know why some of their artworks are being stolen off somewhere with watermarks like amino.
