Parade Float Preparations update - 12 February 2025-[IMG=2P4]

It's been a few weeks since the last update, much of that time

It's been a few weeks since the last update, much of that time getting on with it.

Here's the latest Parade Preparation update.

Costuming

Foundation dress

Dress has been washed.

Requires an iron.

95% Complete :negative_squared_cross_mark:

Tail

Produced new tail extensions. Sewed extensions on to existing tailpiece.

Created a new belt section - instead of only for the front part of tailpiece, new belt piece covered entire circumference.

Sewed the belt piece to the tailpiece.

100% Complete :white_check_mark:

Wings

The intention to strengthen and do a complete remodelling of the wings is not viable. The wings are already heavy enough and to achieve that goal would add additional weight, when making it lighter is much preferable.

There's no viable way for the wings to be able to themselves to stay upright so fully wearing them, even though having to carry other infrastructure, is the only way.

Part of the original wings had been removed prior and some arm attachments were now sewn in.

This had to be hand sewn due to the nature of its structure, resulting in a small injury.

100% Complete :white_check_mark:

Claw spats/gaiters

Additional length was cut and sewn.

The claws will be lengthened if there are sufficient materials but this won't be determined until after the mask is made.

50% Complete :negative_squared_cross_mark:

Phoenix Beak Mask

Ripped out the seams to remove the beak from the previous headpiece.

Crafted a completely new and different headpiece.

Trimmed beak & attached to new mask section of headpiece.

Attached this to PHANTOM mask from 2024 Parade, with an additional added for easier reuse in future years.

(This was after trying out a different type of headpiece for four days and aborting that because it didn't work out well.)

Sewed a new top headpiece.

55% Complete :negative_squared_cross_mark:

Backpack

A on the backpack was partially removed; the seams were opened on the bottom and sides, creating a flap to re-expose the wing attachment s but maintain the functionality.

Additional hook & loop sewn in to strengthen wing attachment and practicality.

100% Complete :white_check_mark:

Props

Phoenix Mascot

Drew a bird figure and used to sew a plush base figure.

Designed, drew, cut and glued Pansexual flag and fiery coloured wings.

Sewed a wing attachment piece.

Created and added a beak.

Created a tail (not yet attached).

Signage

Main messaging

Sign to be printed / constructed.

Sign to have water-resistence covering applied.

No work has yet commenced.

0% Complete :x:

Prop tray messaging

Signs to be printed / constructed.

Signs to have water-resistence covering applied.

Signs to be attached to prop tray.

No work has yet commenced.

0% Complete :x:

Float

The float sign is a sign provided to every float, which has their organisation/individual name (as applicable), marshalling location and Parade number.

Since this is only collected once at registration on Parade day (evening), no work can be done with this until at the Marshalling Area immediately prior to the Parade.

This will require holes to be drilled and signage/props attached.

0% Complete :x:

⠀⠀

A lot done but a lot more still to go, with the Parade seventeen (17) evenings away.

I've neglected a lot of other things to work on this.

Stay tuned for further updates.
