I live in Australia and I'm a bit confused on how I would send something to his P.O. Box. I have the address but I'm unsure if i have to include stamps to send back to Australia.

How did I not know he had a P.O box
yes! you need international stamps (like forever stamps) in order to send & receive the letter to/from the p.o. box! i would check in with a local mailing service to just to make sure you have everything you need on the letter, like amount of stamps you need, the correct type of stamp, etc.
