I was walking home one day and I noticed a little black kitten on the sidewalk. It was shivering, and looked rather ill, as if it was about to die. So I decided to bring it back home with me and nurse it back to health. As I tried to pick up the kitten, he, as I came to find out, snarled at me, and released his claws slowly. I slowly approached him, noticing he had no collar. He suddenly took off with such speed that you would never know he was dying. I ran after him, calling him to try and help him. We ran until we reached a small river, one I usually spent time in. I was labelled as a nerd at school, with my brown curly hair and glasses, so I didn’t really have much friends. I’d just spend my time here, sitting by a tree, and singing. It’s one of my most favourite things to do. The only one who’s heard me yet is Gemma, my lovely sister. I stopped running and started calling out to the kitten, walking slowly so I wouldn’t scare him, wherever he was. “Here kitty, kitty. Harry just wants to help you. Please come out.” I spotted the kitten a few feet away, laid in the grass, most likely tired from the chase. I gently walked over to him, wrapped him in a towel, which I’m always carrying, and started walking home. I caressed his fur in order to calm him down and put him to sleep. Once I reached home, I rushed him to the bathroom and ran a small warm bath. Luckily, he was asleep, and didn’t protest. I washed him up and searched for wounds, which were unavailable. I then found a small blanket and wrapped him up, leaving him on my pillow. I ran to the kitchen to look for some food for the little guy. It was just my luck that we had a can of sardines! I transferred the sardines to a paper plate, and cut them up into small pieces like the amazing chef I am. I plan on being a baker one day! I took the plate back upstairs, and woke up the kitten, who greedily munched on the food in delight. As he ate, I watched him from afar, not wanting to bother him. I wondered what would happen now that he’s better. Would he want to stay? Would Mum even let me keep him? I had no trouble with the name. Just one look at his silver eyes, and I knew his name had to be Silver. He finished eating, and laid back, suddenly making eye with me. His eyes held pain, and loneliness. I wondered if mine held the same? We sat there, staring at each other for what seemed like forever, until he got up and made his way over to me, crawling into my lap and making his bed there. Surprised, I sat still for a moment. It was only when he started purring did I relax and pet his fur softly. I gazed at him with adoration. All cleaned up and fed, he was a beautiful cat. He had bright silver eyes which reminded you of a swirling pool of melted silver, and his sleek, black fur felt softer than cotton. I felt that he finally trusted me, and that made my heart warm. We sat there, two beings with the same soul, bonding in silence. It was as if I had found another me.
