Twice (in Korean: 트 와이스; rr: teuwaiseu; ト ゥ ワ イ ス; stylized as TWICE) is a South Korean female group formed by JYP Entertainment in 2015 through the reality show "sixteen". The group consists of nine : Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung and Tzuyu. The group made its debut with the release of extended play The Story Begins on October 19, 2015.

2013-2015: Group formation and The Story Beggins Edit

On December 19, 2013, JYP Entertainment announced that it would debut a new girl group in the first half of 2014, the company's first girl group since Miss A's debut in 2010.On February 27, 2014, JYP trainees Lena and Cecilia were confirmed as of the group, while there were rumors that other JYP trainees, Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Jisoo (later Jihyo), Sana, and Minyoung would be the other . The album's second mini-album, Page Two, was officially released on April 25, 2016. The mini-album includes the lead track "Cheer Up", a re-recording of Park Jiyoon's "Precious Love" and "I'm Gonna Be the Star, "which served as the theme song for Sixteen. On January 3, 2017, the "TT" clip reached 100 million views, making it the music video for a K-pop group most viewed in less time, breaking its own previous record with "Cheer Up."

On January 10, JYP Entertainment announced the band's first tour. The show called TWICE 1st Tour: TWICELAND The Opening which was held between February 17 and 19 at the SK Olympic Handball Gymnasium, and was also the first stop on their world tour.

On January 18, JYP Entertainment also announced that TWICE would release a special album in February after the completion of the first leg of their tour.
