Meet Monarch! The death song mentioned in Leif's introduction

Monarch was taken from melody island as an egg by dragon hunters, when he finally hatched it was in captivity

As a hatchling he was constantly kept locked up as the dragon hunters couldn't use the amber he spit since he was too small

When he was finally old enough he was taken from island to island, the dragon hunters using the amber to trap dragons- until he was handed over to Leif's family

At the beginning Leif took part in trapping dragons but often volunteered to make sure Monarch stayed alive. Soon enough under the cover of night Leif snuck to Monarch's cage and let him free- they both escaped that night
