Greetings, adventurers.

+×+×+

With approximately 3 years of D&D under my belt, I've made a lot of very interesting characters, but they were all with a vision in mind. I've always wanted to use the dice tables that the PHB provided, and today I decided to do that!

I'm going to be making a completely random character from the ground up.

Let's get started.

+×+×+

Random Roll! - Imzel the Barbarian-[Cb]Greetings, adventurers.

[C]+×+×+

[C]With approximately 3 years of D&D under my belt,
The lovely dice I'll be using.

So, first step was to roll for a race.

Human

...Okay, not the most exciting choice... Let's see what class she is.

Barbarian

Me: -_-

Fine, whatever. Let's roll for background and alignment.

True Neutral Outlander.

Ohhh, interesting. Makes the Barbarian thing more believable. What's her Outlander origin?

Guide

... what?

I guess the dice don't lie. Alright, let's move on to stats.

No joke, the first six I rolled.

Me: 0_0 Yikes...

I mean, I always like to have balanced characters and being a human will give me ability boosts anyway. Now, let's calculate her height and weight.

5 feet 2 inches, 142 lbs

Ohhh...okay. Guess she's a feisty little one. How old is she again?

28

WOW, okay, this isn't going the direction I wanted to. Let's just move on to subclass. I'm sure that'll balance it out.

Path of the Totem Warrior: Eagle

...

Did I just make a short version of Pocahontas?

Backstory

Long ago, before man conquered nature, animals ruled the world. Birds were as large as people, and mammals towered over hills and trees. The sky was closer to the ground, so animals of the air communed with animals on the ground and in the sea. Soon, animals learned to read and write, and they started sending letters to each other, for families were split between the sea and land and sky. The mighty eagles took on the duty of delivering these letters and developed strong arms and sharp tongues to better hone their craft.

These eagles became known as the Dyernina people, and they were highly respected in the animal kingdom. Over many centuries, the Dyernina lost more and more of their eagle traits, taking on human traits instead as more animals morphed into other humanoid tribes. You see, the Dyernina were plagued with pride; they hated to see other animals have the ability that only they had possessed for many years. So they took on more and more human abilities to be better than the other animals, but their pride and jealousy ultimately consumed them and they were forever bound to the ground.

Now, having learned that pride is a great evil, all of the Dyernina people warn their children to never let pride or jealousy overcome them, lest they lose what little they have of their ancient Eagle spirit. For it is said that every 100 years, a great Eagle warrior rises from the crowd and leads the tribe to great victories; but the warrior must be free of pride and stronger than their jealous ancestors.

When Imzel was born, her parents were delighted to have a strong girl in their family. But no sooner had she been born that they discovered a strange birthmark on her right shoulder: the eye of an eagle. They rushed her to the tribe shaman, anxious to see if this was a sign. The shaman, with proud resolve, declared that the next Eagle warrior had been born. The tribe celebrated with a huge bonfire and a festival dance, but Imzel slept through most of it.

The shaman urged her parents to not reveal Imzel's destiny to her until she was ready, so the child was raised as any other Dyernina youngling, taught to read and write, make clothes, fight, and be respectful to her elders. She unsurprisingly excelled in everything she was taught, especially in combat. She could go into these fits of fury and knock out ten opponents in the blink of an eye. She was looking to be a very promising warrior.

One day, strange new people arrived in the Dyernina's land, and the chief went out to greet them. Apparently, they were travelers that had gotten lost and were looking for landmarks on their map. With a wary eye, the chief led the travelers to the other side of the hills, and they thanked him profusely. He told them to encourage others to go around the hills and not disturb his people, and the travelers agreed. However, a few weeks later, another group of travelers arrived, seemingly excited to meet the Dyernina. Heavily suspicious, the chief decided it'd be safer to help these people rather than force them to go around. Imzel was the first official "guide" for travelers and her name spread through the strangers' world.

While Imzel was making her way back to the meeting spot for travelers, she noticed that the new ones didn't look quite right: dark green, bushy hair, huge tusks... Imzel greeted them cautiously, but immediately regretted it. The orc men tried to seize her, and she quickly dodged them and sprinted toward her village. She could hear them bellowing in anger and starting to run after her, but she was faster; she knew these hills. She ran faster than she had ever run in her life: her lungs burned like hot coals, her feet stung like she was stepping on wasps, and her hair whipped her face ferociously. For a moment, she thought they would catch her...

But then, she sped up. She felt her feet leave the ground for a brief moment as she seemed to suddenly gain god-like strength in her legs. Her vision sharpened, stretching farther into the plains than she had ever seen, and her feet dug into the ground to give her a boost, almost like talons. She saw her village and let out a vicious cry, but it didn't sound like her: it sounded like an eagle. Shocked to her core, she stopped in her tracks, but this was a big mistake. The momentum she had gained was still pushing on her, so as she stopped, she slammed her face into the ground, grinding it in the dirt as she skidded to a halt. Her mind blacked out, her muscles numbing and going limp from the excersion.

No...I have to get up...I have to warn them...get up...they're in trouble...please..... . .get u p. . .

By the time Imzel woke up, her village was already razed to the ground. Huts were burning, crops were destroyed, herds were strewn about in bloody piles. The small human struggled to her feet, blinking away tears and wiping the dirt out of her face. She could see friends, family, mentors, loved ones...all soulless bodies left to rot in the evening sun.

She wasn't fast enough...

She couldn't save them...

This was her fault.

How could she let this happen?

...

"But I can do this for them."

Imzel spent the whole night burying her people, performing ritual after ritual, even the ones she wasn't qualified for. She didn't cry, she kept moving. She had to do this for them. For her people.

It was only after the moon had set and the sun began to rise over the grassy hills, greeting Imzel as she sat at the top, playing her bone flute alone

that she began to cry.
