Nintendo's E3 2018 Treehouse 13/06/18 - Part 2

Hello and welcome to the second part of today's E3 coverage. I'll be taking you through the fourth, fifth and sixth games shown at today's show.

Showcase Four

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Once again the Smash game was showcased. This presentation focused on two returning characters who missed places in Smash 4; the Ice Climbers and the Pokémon Trainer.

First up was the Pokémon trainer, and we saw an in-depth showcase looking at several moves from all three Pokémon included, then we were treated to a match between two Pokémon trainers, showing off the male and female models.

Next up was the Ice Climbers, and we essentially saw a repeat of the Pokémon showcase. An in-depth showcase of their moves and characteristics, as well as a match between two ice climbers.

Showcase Five

Hollow Knight: Gods and Glory

Hollow Knight was the next game to be shown. Two representatives from Team Cherry gave us a look at the free expansion update, Gods and Glory.

According to Team Cherry, Gods and Glory is a boss rush mode, but it has its own twist. The developers wanted to make it seem integrated into the world rather than seem like a disconnected mode, so they have given it a narrative.

You'll travel to Godshome, and fight bosses from the main game in areanas here. We were treated to a look at what seemed to be the first level in this expansion.

Hollow Knight is available for on Switch, and the Gods and Glory update will be launched "very soon".

Showcase Six

Splatoon 2: Octo Expansion

We're just a few hours away from the worldwide release of the Octo Expansion for Splatoon 2, and Angelo's idol Nogami came back to the Treehouse today to give a more in-depth look at the opening of the expansion.

We were treated to the first 30 minutes or so the expansion, which I'm going to talk about in some detail, so obvious spoiler warnings for those who want to go in completely blind.

We began with a cutscene with an amnesiac octoling (that's you), and a very confused Cap'n Cuttlefish. The Octoling was apparently in the midst of a battle with Agent 3 when someone squidnapped both the Octoling and the Cap'n; no word on Agent 3.

You're deep below the world of Splatoon, buried somewhere in a strange metro system.

After a simple initial challenge, you're told you need to complete a series of challenges for the mysterious Kamabo Corporation in order to find your way out of this subterranean maze.

We then saw the first of the 80 proper levels in the game, and in it we saw the newly christened Agent 8 fight against some other Octolings. Each level gives you a specific weapon loadout.

New Amiibo

We were confirmed that 3 new amiibo would be coming soon. Obviously, they're Octolings. No word on a release date.
