My 8 most wanted Smash Bros newcomers

I'm bored and out of unique blog ideas.

My idea was to make a Top 10 list of my most wanted Smash Bros newcomers. I made a top 5 list a long time ago, but I think it ended up being 4 character instead. For some reason I put Fi from TLoZ: Skyeard Sword on there??? I've never even played Skyward Sword so idk why they were their.

Then I came back and made an actual Top 10 list of characters, and it's just outdated. Byleth is in Smash now, Paper Mario was #4 for some reason, and Spring-Man was there too. I'm writing this before the ARMS character's announcement, so idk if Spring-Man is in or not. Either way it just means the list is outdated.

So i'm coming back to make a definitive list. The only problem is, I don't really have a top 10 list of characters. I only actually have 8. There are plenty of characters I want, but there are some characters I want even more.

Important Info before we start.

Assist Trophies, Spirits, and Mii Costumes will be counted as to not deconfirm characters. Which they don't anyway.

We are not specifically talking about Ultimate, just the series in general.

#8. Midna

"What if they were in Smash? Midna & Wolf Link"

I was debating actually putting Midna on here, since I didn't have a big opinion on her in Smash. But after some careful consideration, and a lot of thinking, I absolutely think she would be one of my most wanted characters. For some reason I put Fi instead of Midna, that was a dumb mistake.

I love Twilight Princess a lot, it's easily my all time favorite Zelda game. And Midna is easily my favorite sidekick/companion to accompony Link on his adventure. I think Midna has a lot of potential as a Smash Bros character, and would be a unique fighter to in the Zelda lineup of fighters.

I mean, think of it. We have 3 Links in Smash that all play in similar ways. Technically two Zelda's, since Shiek is Zelda. And then Ganondorf. All 3 pieces of the Tri-force are in Smash, so what could possibly be next? Other popular characters of course! I think Midna specifically would be the coolest character from the Zelda series to add.

#7.Paper Mario

"What if they were in Smash? Paper Mario"

I really don't know why I had this at #4 last time. If this was a top 10 list, Paper Mario would be 8th for sure. I've barely played a Paper Mario game, and yet he's one of my most requested fighters. Not as much as I first thought though.

I'd say the biggest reason I want Paper Mario in Smash is because of how many possibilities there are with the characters. The devs would have have 6 games to pick from, and choose what they could base stuff off from. Most people would look for stuff from TTYD since that is the more popular Paper Mario game, but they've got plenty of other games to choose from.

And while yeah, this would mean we're getting a third Mario in Smash. But atleast they would be actually interesting. I truthfully think Dr.Mario should just be an alternate costume instead of it's own character. And when comparing to the possible Mario Trio to the Link Trio, it's obvious as to which is more interesting. Like really, once you play one Link, you've played the majority of the other Links.

#6. Rex

I wasn't originally gonna put Rex on this list, infact, this list used to be 7 characters and not 8. But after playing Xenoblade Chronicles 2, twice, i've enjoyed my time with it and loved the characters a lot. Since a big part of what I do here on NSA is making Smash Bros movesets, Rex of course came to mind. And yeah, this does mean I will make one for Rex. For a long time, I never really understood why people wanted Rex in Smash. Now, while I was making it, I understand.

While yes, on the outside he can viewed as "another anime swordfighter". Rex has quite a lot to him, mainly because of what weapon he uses, The Aegis. The Aegis is not just a weapon, but a physical being that helps Rex in combat, that being Pyra & Mythra. They could act like Rosalina & Luma, but with Swords. Not to mention the possible gimmicks that could be emplanted in the character.

I really wasn't gonna add Rex here, but I can't just make a Smash list and not include a character I want.

#5. Pheonix Wright

"What if they were in Smash? Pheonix Wright"

A couple months ago, I bought and played the Ace Attorney Trilogy. And during that time, my love for the series and character rose quickly. At the same time, my hopes for Pheonix Wright rose too, and quite a lot! Pheonix is easily one of my most wanted characters now.

Before playing the games, I never really understood why people wanted Pheonix in Smash. Yeah he's an iconic character, but he just seemed kinda boring. After playing the games, i've realized that Pheonix would be one of the most interesting choices yet. As someone who has made plenty of movesets for characters, I can tell that Pheonix Wright would bring something interesting to the table. I even linked my old moveset of him under the picture, but I will eventually make a better version of it.

#4. Krystal

"What if they were in Smash? Krystal"

I think i've made it quite obvious that Star Fox Adventures is my all time favorite video game. I have some incredible memories with the game, and absolutely adore it. Despite what you may hear about it, the game is perfectly fine, and amazing. So it would be pretty natural to want a rep from that game, yeah? My clear choice is Krystal.

Right now, Krystal is an Assist Trophy, which makes me quote sad. But I gotta say, the Assist Trophy reresents SFA pretty well! Mainly because of her weapon, the Staff. Hitting opponents in a chain attack combo, which is the main battle system for Adventures. And then she uses the Ice Blaster to freezs enemies, much like the actual upgrade does in the game.

There are a lot of different Staff combo combinations that can be inputted, so there are multiple different possibilities for a moveset.

#3. Rayman

"What if they were in Smash? Rayman Revisited"

Uhhhhhh i'll be honest I don't really know why Rayman is so high on the list...but I also have no reason to put him further down on the list sooooo...whatever. I've actually played and finished Rayman games, so I have a reason to have him on the list. Where as Paper Mario, I only played a little bit of Super Paper Mario. But Rayman, I liked the Rayman games.

It should be said that I have only played Origins and Legends though. Other than that, I have a lot of reason for wanting Rayman in Smash. One big thing is that there isn't much Ubisoft stuff in Ultimate. Some Spirits, some Mii Costumes, nothing else. Rayman is also seen as Ubisofts classic mascot, a gaming icon. Duking it out with Mario, Sonic and Mega Man...than nothing.

Also i'm just super curious to see what they would do for an Amiibo. How do you make a character with no limbs, but just floating pieces, into a figurine without it looking terrible. I'm interested.

#2. The Knight

"What if they were in Smash? The Knight Revisited"

Well, here's the oddball pick of the list. And at 2nd place too. Hollow Knight was one of my favorite Indie games that i've ever played. It opened my eyes to the world of Metroidvania's too, which has quickly become one of my favorite genre of video games. I could talk about the actual game for hours, but i'm not here to do that, i'm here to explain why I want The Knight in Smash.

First off, as you may know, I tend to make a lot of Smash Bros movesets for characters. I've been linking the movesets for each character listed here too, including The Knight. This moveset I made for The Knight, to me, is my best blog ever. I put tons of thought into the moveset and b general. All to show how unique the little guy would be if he was putten into Smash. That brings me into my next point.

He's unique, he would bring some interesting stuff to Smash. The Soul Meter specifically. Not to mention the multiple possible charms The Knight could equip. Even with those unique attributes, the moveset itself is simple, and is mostly already present in the game itself.

#1. Bandana Dee

WOW WHO COULD HAVE SEEN THIS COMING

It's not like he's been #1 for every single other blog about my Smash Bros picks.

I am a huge Kirby fan, and an even bigger Bandana Dee 4 Smash er. I've wanted this little guy in since the Smash 4 days. It saddens me a lot to see how many people are against Bandana Dee, truthfully. And yeah, I can understand not wanting a character in...but atleast give an actual good reason to. I could not tell you the amount of times where I see people giving dumb reasons, trying to gatekeep Bandana Dee outta Smash. Even something as simple as "I just don't want them in" is better than any argument.

"Just a basic Kirby enemy"

"He would only use a Spear"

"Kirby doesn't deserve any more reps"

All real excuses people give against Bandana Dee!

But despite that bickering of pointless internet arguments, Bandana Dee is my most wanted fighter in the Smash Bros series. Unlike other people, I can realize how special Bandana Dee would be in Smash Bros. He could also be our first Kirby Rep to actually take note of the recent Kirby games, which Sakurai tends to ignore. Ever noticed how everything Kirby related in Smash is mainly before Super Star? The only recent acknowledgement we have is Kirby and DeDeDe's Final Smash. It's quite sad.

Anyway, i'm not here to defend my character, i'm here to explain why I want them...Well, I suppose I already did. I'm a big kirby fan! I love the kirby games, characters, everything about it. Out of every Nintendo series, i've easily played more Kirby games out of everything. So that's why I want Bandana Dee, I love the kirby series, and I love their characters. Why is he #1 pick.
