Basic Description

Noms are small legged creatures with two different body type proportions, the Original Proportions and the Loaf Proportions, they can come with different features such as different kinds of small horns, and different kinds of small ears, Noms are typically 2 feet in height though they can be smaller, Original Proportion Noms have lion like tails, The Loaf Proportion Noms mostly have small bunny like tails.

Creation

In this universe human exploration has advanced significantly and had been that way for awhile, after exploring the other planets a few people while exploring a planet found a small creature that could withstand anything, not only where they really fast but they also where very smart, after the higher ups caught a wif of these buggers they wanted to have some to use as weapons, but due to there hard to catch nature they decided to make their own, after all how hard can it be? They have advanced a lot so it should be easy, well it wasn't, after a few attempts they thought they finally cracked the code, and in some way they did but something went wrong and they ended up with these cuties.

Protected Species History

After their fail they decided to keep them a secret and do tests on them while trying to figure out what went wrong so they can get it right the next time, Through doing tests they found out a lot and it was going pretty good, until one day they all escaped, the one thing you gotta understand is that they made a lot on the attempt, so when they escaped it didn't take long for people to notice them, at first they didn't do much but after exploration they started to do a lot of good, through hearing people complain about certain things they did little things to help, they would hunt down mosquitoes, they would eat bugs that destroyed crops, they in their own way started to pollinate flowers, they picked up trash and many other things, at first the lab people tried to spin them as pests to convince the public to get rid of them but obviously due to the amount of good they were doing it didn't work and it actually had an opposite affect, many people gotten together to convince the higher ups of their country to make them a protected species, and it worked, Noms can now be found anywhere, and in a lot of places it is considered illegal to buy and sell them as they are more useful roaming free then as a pet.

Name History

At the time when the people where fighting to get them considered as a protected species they didn't have a name, they were called many things and no one could figure out what it should be, over time however a certain name kept coming up, The name Nom started to spread around because of a video that someone title "little guy goes nom", it was a video of a baby Nom sneaking up on a mosquito that landed on someones hand, at the end they ate the bug, in the comments someone put "little nom went nom", calling them a Nom at first started only on the internet then it spread into the real world, it gotten to a point where Noms would even start saying the word themselves, so now it's just there name.

The Teach And Release Program

After they became a protected species and the population grown a lot, more and more Noms where getting accidentally hit by cars, a few terrible individuals would even use it as an excuse to purposefully hit them, so as a way to decrease the accidents and arrest those who do it on purpose they started the teach and release program, they caught as many Noms as they could and taught them how to use Nom crosswalks, Nom crosswalks were then set up all over every road, they functioned like human ones except the button was only in Nom reach, also there was a way to turn it off, due to them not wanting to risk any more noms getting hurt they didn't put a timer in so instead they also put in another button on both sides that can turn it off, so when they all get to the other side and successfully cross they can turn it off and let the cars go by, they also put a hole with a grate that only Noms can get in near the middle of the cross walk as a quick escape incase the button turns off in the middle of them walking, after they taught the noms the info was ed on through the generations so every generation can be safe, along with the crosswalk they also put a camera at every one so if an individual ignores the light telling them to stop they can get arrested and put in jail for 3 years and charged an 800 dollar endangerment fine.

Original Proportion Noms Popularity

It almost feels like instantly when they gotten out they had a good amount of popularity and that has only increased ever since then, you can not go anywhere without seeing some kind of merch, videos, billboards or ads of them or with them in it, fast food chains make toys of them, video game company's made gane about them and put them in others, there are educational videos teaching kids how to treat them properly, They even make stuff of Noms to get donations for other species, think of anything that can be a Nom and make it a Nom, they have Nom houses you can put in your backyard, and there is a way to "adopt" a Nom and it's really really expensive but a lot of people do that, there is also a trend involving Nom owners where they put a go pro on the Mom and document there day to day life, so it's safe to say people really love them.

Loaf Proportion Noms

Around the time when they started to offer a way to "adopt" the Original Proportion Noms, people wanted a way to actually own them due to the fact that even with the paperwork and chipping that put them as yours you can't keep them in your house and they mostly spend time way from you due to them naturally being solitary creatures, so as a way to combat that they made the Loaf Proportion Noms, these Noms have everything the other Noms have except these are a lot more cheaper and they crave more attention, these are the ones you can keep in your house, these are the ones you can cuddle day in and day out, with there more Loaf shape they instantly became as popular as the Original ones even when they were only slightly hinted at, everyone rushed to get there own, people made things for them and the cycle of popularity repeated, now Loaf and Original Noms are loved equally by the public, of course you would get those annoying purist who try and say that the only try Nom owners are the ones with Original Proportions, and how the loaf ones aren't really Noms even though they are, the general understanding is that if you want a more cheap and loving Nom then the loaf ones are perfectly okay and just as valid as the Originals.

Research Info

-Noms are very squishy, they can fit themselves through cracks that have the width of there legs, they can also jump pretty high and can survive a pretty good fall.

-Noms have the ability to smell out and detect, all kinds of illnesses, there success rate is 98 percent of the time, they can also smell out Mental problems as well but that's only correct 76 percent of the time.

-Noms can repeat sounds they hear, after hearing a sound two time they can perfectly replicate it

-Noms can heal small wounds faster then the average person, and when it does heal the area becomes extremely more durable.
