First Practice

• Harry Gant leads first practice. Rusty Wallace and Jeff Gordon finish 2nd and 3rd.

Final Practice

• Jeff Gordon leads final practice. Shepherd and Wallace round out the top 3.

Qualifying

• Loy Allen wins a shock pole at Darlington. Elliott will start 2nd.

Race

• Lap 1: Loy Allen struggles off the start and falls to 2nd. Elliott takes the lead.

• Lap 27: Loy Allen takes the lead on the inside.

• Lap 61: Rob Moroso spins in turn 3 and hits the wall hard. His race is over.

• Lap 67: Gordon takes the lead from Allen. Wallace follows Gordon and takes 2nd.

• Lap 131: Dale Jarrett hits the wall. Terry Labonte runs into him.

• Lap 187: Wallace blows a tire in turn 1. Wallace spins down the track and he comes back up the track. He collects Gordon. The top 2 in points are out of the race. Allen takes the lead back.

• Lap 247: Rick Mast is spun by Darrell Waltrip. Mast hits the inside wall and is out.

• Lap 272: Michael Waltrip has a flat tire. He limps to pit road.

• Lap 301: Dale Earnhardt loses 4th gear. He makes his way to the garage as they will attempt to fix it.

• Lap 359: Sterling Marlin spins and hits the entrance to pit lane. His race is done.

• Lap 360: The field is split on strategy. Loy Allen pits. Several cars stay out including Kyle Petty who is the new race leader.

• Lap 367: Kyle Petty is able to defend his lead late. Kyle Petty wins at Darlington. Waltrip, and Elliott finish 2nd and 3rd. Loy Allen ended up finishing in 4th.
