The creature pranced around the fields, it's skirts of butterflies fluttering in the light wind. It had skin the color of golden honey with beautiful angelic wings sprouting out of its back. An almost human-like resemblance in form stopped most hunters, but if you looked at its face and the vines that encircled it's body it looked less and less human.
"This one looks like a female," I whispered to my little brother as the both of us hung from the trees.
"Uh...how can you tell?" My brother shook his head at me and scrunched up his face in confusion.
"Duh Eran," I rolled my eyes at him, "because its face curves into a downward snout."
"Oh yeah, like I would know that."
I ignored that comment and focused on the beautiful species of Dorl before me. The legends went that they were born with the butterflies on them just around where a human private area would be but more appeared as they grew in age.
The Dorl bent down and opened her hands which were covered with soft downy fur a rich auburn that matched the butterfly wings, and cupped something in them. I learned forward out of the tree to get a better look and Eran grabbed the back of my shirt quickly.
"Careful Tiff I don't want you hurting yourself."
I brushed him off me and resituated myself in the tree. "I'm not going to fall out believe me."
His eyes narrowed at me and he crossed his arms across his chest. "What are we even doing here anyways!" he exclaimed, clearly annoyed.
I quickly whirled around to see the Dorl perk her head to the side and her nose in the air. She crouched as if to flee and I held my breath until a bird flew right by her head in a burst of a song. She visibly relaxed, letting the bird land on her and started a song of her own.
Turning back to my brother, I explained. "It's mating season this is a once in a life time event so please shut up."
Eran glared but zipped his lips. I faced back towards the Dorl to see another walking out of the forest. My eyes positively popped out of my head. A male! And wait...it had horns so it was full grown!
I peeked quickly at my brother but he was steadily ignoring me and probably didn't even understand what was going on.
The male stepped towards the still singing female, probably what attracted him, and started to do what I can only describe as a dance. The colors of his butterflies changed to his movements and the female slowly turned towards him.
Suddenly she opened her cupped hands and a beautiful little bird flew out to in with the song. They danced around each other in perfect harmony.
I don't know how long I stood there hypnotized by the creatures movements but I know it was long because the sun had started to set when the dance was finally over. They bowed to each other and raced off into the forest on all four limbs.
"Wow," I whispered turning back towards Eran. His eyes met mine but he pretended he wasn't interested, instead started to swing towards home.
He hooked his tail on each branch and hung on one before turning back to me. "Wow want to go see humans mate now. Would be just as boring I'm betting." A smirk spread across his face at the jibe and I leaped towards him.
"Ew no," I answered landing on a branch near him. "Let's just go home." I gave him a genuine smile and as the sun set after a satisfying day I swung across the jungle with Eran at my side once again.

Beautiful story!
The drawing is a little odd and I think would look much better drawn traditionally. Do you mind if I take the description of a dorl you put in the story and try to draw it traditionally? I will show you when I’m done with it!
Wow thank you ever so much! And yes I would absolutely love to see you draw it! (as unfortunately you can see I don’t have much drawing talent)
