◟ Although Calista’s quirk is not overpowered like some individuals at her school, she uses it immaculately. It being more of an offensive quirk, she works strategically in battle. Her skills granted her fifth place in the UA entrance exam, she was able to make it through more of the manufactured city than any of the other students (Using her vines to sling through the buildings) and took down multiple battle bots, dismembering them with a multitude of plants.

Not only has her outlook on life changed since ing UA, but so has her overall strength. She has better control and usage of her quirk now. Some of her special moves they’ve witnessed were her plus ultra during the sports festival.

She was able to cover the entire stadium in lush green forest, then capture Tsuyu Asui in a floating flower buble. Another was “Botany Blast” seen being used against Twice in their fight against the L.U.V, whilst at the USJ. She seemed to uproot half the facility and force it upon him and his clones.

Calista’s main battle tactic seems to be apprehending her target, then pummelling them with a wide array of finishing blows. Whether it be using brute force (Her martial arts) or using some sort of dangerous plant, Cali always ends up with an edge over an enemy.

She now lives independently in a studio apartment downtown. During her internship, she worked alongside Froppy and Pro Hero Selkie on the Oki Mariner. They spent their time protecting a Japanese harbor and fighting an aquatic villain named ‘Innsmouth’.

During the work study program, she spent her time learning new growth techniques and cellular photosynthesis at the Musutafu Plant Observatory, not too far from Midnight’s agency where she would occasionally help patrol.

She is also the know holder of 1-A’s top written test scores. Most likely due to her advanced ‘around the world’ education the Marines provided for her.

Cali was issued a military attack pitbull, Uimire, whom she was discharged with and still cares for.

⌕ the tragic anime backstory

◟ [C] Calista was born in Japan to Manfri, her father, and her mother Yu. Yu had just kickstarted her hero career and was disappointed to have to stay home for the first few months. Manfri was just overjoyed to have a family, although he had to leave for an overseas mission shortly after.

When Takeyama was about three, her mother’s career had become so successful that she literally had no time to raise a child on her own. So, Cali’s father came back from active duty and stayed to watch her while Yu did hero work.

Her bother, Fenrius, was born a year after their father returned to Japan. Just the one child was too much for Yu, so a second was an overload. The couple couldn’t live off of just her mom’s salary, and the kids couldn’t live with their mom being away all of the time, so both Calista and Fenrius went back to the Marines with Manfri.

Cali visited many different countries and met countless people the six years she spent overseas. She trained with her father’s fellow cadets. She took on languages from all around the world and became acquainted with many cultures. As well as a unique widespread education, setting her far above children her age in academic understanding.

When she was around ten, Takeyama’s father made the decision to bring her back home to Japan. His hope was that she might get proper hero training before enlisting in UA. Manfri always wanted his children to become heroes like their mother, to be strong, and make a difference in the world.

Cali attended Japanese middle school where she was outcasted immediately for a lack of social skills and “looking different.” It was uncommon to see a gypsy girl in the Japanese school system, it made her fellow classmates uncomfortable and in tern taught Takeyama that she was special in a way that meant something bad, instead of something to be proud of like her father taught her.

When Calista was twelve, she opened the front door to one of Manfri’s fellow soldiers and her little brother standing behind him. The man’s hat was stagnant in his right hand and his head dropped low. She knew that visit meant her father was gone and there was nothing that could have been done about it.

Takeyama took her brother inside and received Manfri’s dog tag with a hollow heart.

Yu refused to accept the death of her husband, shot down at sea. And instead of mourning in a healthy way, she threw all of her distain onto Calista. Yu repeatedly blamed Cali for not being there when he ed, told her it was her fault. She insisted on constantly putting her daughter down, letting the rage and grief build up till it spewed all over Cali.

During her grief, Yu began neglecting her son and left Cali to take care of him souly by herself. She left for missions and business trips daily, abandoning both children, forcing Calista to raise both her younger brother and herself.

Takeyama became fed up with the abuse and took time to strike up an argument with her mother, provoking her to kick the girl out. Cali fled from the house, no idea what would become of her practically abandoned little brother.

She settled on couch jumping between a few friends for a while, eventually overstaying her welcome at each and having to take to the streets. When Takeyama was fourteen, she spent most of her nights with strange men and boys who offered her a bed.

She did many things to stay warm, keep a roof over her head. Those things she’d rather not think about anymore.

Once tired of being a stranger’s toy every time she needed a place to stay, Calista decided to go to the only place she knew she would feel safe in; the Army. Takeyama ed the Japanese Army at fourteen and a half, only discharging when it came time for UA’s entry test.

From then on, Calista has spent her time training to become the hero Manfri always wanted her to to be. Picking up some very vital life skills along the way, which helped her greatly up against the many challenges that come with being an aspiring hero. ◝
