Dabi paces back and forth in the small dining room of the castle, his own heart thrumming in his chest as he wipes the sweat from his forehead. He turns around when he hears the sound of approaching footsteps. That's when his heart seems to drop. Standing in front of him was a beaten up Hawks who looked as if he was hit by a train. His clothes were torn and his face was smudged with dirt and soot. It didn't take a genius to know what happened or what the male was up to but Dabi knew it had to stop, otherwise someone was going to end up getting seriously injured.

"If you keep this up, you're going to get yourself killed," Dabi says crossing the room to wrap an arm around Hawks waist as gently as he could. Hawks draped his arm over Dabi's shoulder and the two males made their way to a dining room chair.

"I didn't know you cared so much about me," Hawks replied, a smirk gracing his lips that soon faded as quickly as it had appeared. With a small wince, Hawks raised his fingers to his lips. "Damn that hurts like a bitch.

"Serves you right bird brain. This is what you get for being so reckless and don't make it seem like I care about your well-being because honestly, I could care less," Dabi claimed as he moved around the kitchen in search of the first aid kit and a rag.

Once those items were successfully located, Dabi made his way back into the dining room. To be quite clear, this wasn't in his nature to tend to people's wounds but with Hawks...it was different he couldn't really explain it even if you asked him to.

"So you say."

The dark haired male dabbed at the bottom of Hawks lip with a cotton ball his poker face in play. The majority of what he said were lies that held a deeper meaning to how he really felt. But its not like Dabi would ever tell Hawks that. You see, he envied Hawks for being who and what he was. Even though he was cursed, nothing more than a monster at times; he still saved people's lives. Hawks is like the sun. When he walks into a room everyone seems to orbit around him, drawn to someone who shines so brightly. Where Hawks was creation, Dabi was destruction and he couldn't help but destroy everything he touched.

A few days ed in a blink of an eye, and Hawks seemed to take Dabi's words to heart. If he could avoid getting hurt then he would. Sometimes he had a hard time figuring out if Dabi really cared for him or not. His tone from that night in the dining room remained monotone so it was difficult to separate the lies and the truths. He'd have to ask him later on in the evening, but he would soon realize that that chance would never come to . The universe always has a way of screwing people's lives up. Of taking the one thing that's most precious to them and annihilating it as if it never existed in the first place. It seemed that the universe had found its next set of targets.

Days turn into weeks. Weeks turn into months. And months turn into years. The cycle of life continues on even when it comes face to face with death. Time waits for no one. The only thing you can do is move forward even if the very reason you lived for no longer stood by your side. Because you were the very cause of their death.

A little boy, no older than ten years old, catches a falling star. He made a deal with the star and swallowed it but it came with a price. In order to receive the power that the little boy wanted, he had to trade it for his heart. That small star became the very heart of Hawks castle and if it were to ever go out...

Hawks would die. That's the situation he found himself in right now. After Hawks saved the town from being destroyed by a bomb due to the war that no longer existed, it took a toll on his body. The castle was destroyed in the aftermath and Hawks was at death's door. What can he do? What should he do? Was there a way to save him?

If he had stopped him earlier, if he had suggested that they run away from all of this then maybe Hawks would have had a chance. But deep down, Dabi knew that the bird brain wouldn't leave just to save his own life. No, he cared about the lives of others. He cared about saving them. Of saving him.

As the sun melted with the almost silhouetted hilltops and scenery; blending mashes of colors created a painting in the sky. Hawks is bathed in the soft light of the sunset. He nearly looks heavenly in this light. Being this close to the wizard, to the man who saved his life all those months ago, stirs an unwelcome feeling.

His eyes land on the faint sun kissed freckles splayed over his nose. At a distance, Dabi never even knew that Hawks had freckles. Moving down from his nose, his eyes finally settle on his lips. How long has it been since Dabi last kissed those lips? How long has it been since a pair of warm arms wrapped themselves around Dabi's frame? How long will he carry this pain that lives within him? What is he suppose to do when there was nothing left but pain, anger, and grief in his heart?

Why was their love doomed from the start? What was the point of the universe bringing them together if it was only going to tear them apart? One lives while the other dies. That's how it is and that's the way it will always be. After all, someone like Dabi doesn't deserve to be happy right? When he first met Hawks, he was afraid to like him, to love him because in the end he knew that he would lose him.
