INTRODUCTION~~
I've never had a story careen out of my control like this before. It was suddenly way more than I had initially planned it to be. This was kind of hard to write but I really like the story I have crafted in my mind. Unfortunately, I didn't have the time to write it all down and I do kind of want to collect my thoughts and plan it out properly before I do, so this is the first part of two. Hope you enjoy!
Time Taken: Around a week
Word Count: 2,165
Characters- Izuku Midoriya, Hitoshi Shinsou.
Akame, Reina & Naoko (OCs)
Mentions of Akira & Komouri (OCs)
A.U- Vigilante (somewhat), Noumu Deku (As in Deku is a multiple quirked, product of experiments)
Trigger Warning- Human Experimentation, Slight gore...?(I don't think its gore, but blood warning)
Synopsis- "I didn't ask for this. I didn't ask for a bunch of quirks and I most definitely didn't ask for the voices that came along with it. I didn't ask to be used as a weapon. I just want to be free and do what I want. I just want to get out of here."

Set Me Free
Part 1
Shivering due to the static in the air, I peered through the darkness to look straight at the cause of my headache.
There were four people standing together with varying looks of confusion and anger on their faces, screaming and arguing with each other. I wanted them to stop; their voices were like hot iron nails trying to dig holes into my skull.
There was another one, a small child with bat-like wings protruding from his back, who was just crouched down to the side, and seemed to be weeping.
Nothing made sense; I wasn’t sure where we were, it was just a pitch black room which seemed to have no ceiling or walls or even a floor. We were just floating inside.
I wanted them to shut up. I wanted to scream, to tell them to leave me alone, but I couldn’t. I felt like I had no solid body where I was and like I was slowly slipping away. They didn’t notice me there and they didn’t stop. The headache continued even as the room around me dissipated and I found myself back in the cold, dark cell that I had come to hate.
𝘛𝘩𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘮𝘺 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘥, I realized.
I clutched my head once again and screamed at the pain. Breathing in the cold air of the cell hurt my already sore throat and I wanted nothing more than to slip out of consciousness.
“Look at me.” An aggravatingly familiar voice broke through my pain. I looked over at the scientist, the bastard who was the cause of all my problems. 𝘏𝘦 was the reason I had all these voices in my head. 𝘏𝘦 was the reason I didn’t look like me anymore and hurt all over.
As soon as I saw the predatory look in his eyes, I curled back, hissing defensively. He was studying me like he was thrilled about what was happening. Like he was fascinated by my pain and wanted to see more.
“So it’s true,” he said with an eerie smile. “The previous holders of the quirks manifest in your mind.”
====================
“𝘚𝘩𝘶𝘵. 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘭. 𝘜𝘱! All three of you! That’s 𝘦𝘯𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩!”
I stabbed my spoon into my cereal and brought it to my mouth, munching angrily.
"𝘋𝘳𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘤," Akame’s quiet mumble echoed through my mind. Finally having enough, I exhaled sharply and slammed the mental barrier I had spent months building, effectively shutting off their voices.
A quiet laugh came from the boy sitting across from me. I looked up and scowled, “Don’t laugh at my misery,Toshi.”
He raised his head to look at me,his amusement shining through his eyes but keeping his face carefully blank. “Right.Sorry, Zuku.”
He waited a beat, then, “Tell them I said ‘hi’.”
He laughed out loud at the look of exasperation on my face. “Toshi! They’re annoying me. You’re supposed to tell them off! Not encourage them to yap around in my brain!”
He laughed once more before we lapsed into a familiar silence. I was still shoveling the last of my cereal into my mouth when Hitoshi nudged my knee with his.
“You don’t have to,” he started in a soft tone, “But do you think you could tell me what happened yesterday?”
Raising my head, I saw that his expression matched his tone. Soft and open; his eyes peeking through violet bangs filled with curiosity and concern. I knew that he wouldn’t push it if I didn’t want to answer. But that’s exactly what made me shift on my chair and look at my lap.
Hitoshi was always exactly what I needed, when I needed it: Kind and caring, muttering reassurances when I felt like I was about to shatter into a million pieces, willing to use his quirk to give me a few seconds of peace to collect myself when the voices in my head became too overwhelming. And of course, stern and stubborn when I refused to take care of myself.
I didn’t deserve any of his kindness. I never understood how he managed to look at me with anything other than pure disgust. Whenever I brought it up he would frown and tell me that “𝘩𝘦 made me do it” and that “it wasn’t my fault”.
What he said may be true but it still doesn’t change the fact that it is my hands that’s drenched with the blood of innocents. That it was my limbs that moved to claim the lives of dozens of people. It was 𝘮𝘺 eyes that had looked straight at him with the lifeless body of a hero in my arms after I had ripped her throat out with my teeth, the metallic taste of her blood lacing my tongue.
I was snapped out of my thoughts when Hitoshi began to speak. “Hey, it’s alright. You don’t have-”
“No, it’s-” I hissed suddenly when Reina’s quirk flared; a sharp spike of pain causing me to jerk my hand back, the spoon flying from it and hitting the wall behind me. Hitoshi began to stand but I waved him away. “I’m fine,” I said, and repeated it once more mentally to Reina who had apologized, as she usually did when her quirk acted up.
I probably brought that upon myself by letting my thoughts wander to dark places. Reina’s quirk was a constant pain. Literally. Dark tendrils curled all over my skin, snaking around and leaving a slight burn in its wake. I had grown used to it and could ignore it most of the time but sometimes, when my emotions were heightened, the tendrils would move around faster and hurt a lot more.
I stretched in my seat, shaking out my limbs and flapping my wings gently. “The area we were walking around yesterday is where the three of them used to live...”
𝘞𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘷𝘦,went unsaid.
Hitoshi just raised his eyebrows, a silent prompt for me to go on.
“The familiarity brought about a flood of memories. Different points of view and contradicting emotions of the place overwhelmed me. Suddenly it felt like they were all at the forefront of my mind and trying to take over.” I shuddered, ing the immense headache it had brought on.
Of the five vestiges in my mind, Akame, Reina and Naoko were the ones who remained as a persistent presence. The other two, who I had come to learn were named Akira and Komouri, had simply faded to the deep trenches of my conscious. They were still there, ever present just like their quirks but they never intervened. An eternal slumber, Akira had said, like how it was supposed to be after their deaths.
“What’s the deal with that? Youn ever really explained it before. You said something about them being a family of assassins or something,” Hitoshi said, tilting his head to the side.
I frowned, “It’s annoying. That’s what it is. They’re adoptive siblings or something. Apparently an assassin couple took them in after their parents sold them off for having ‘villain quirks’.”
I didn’t miss Hitoshi’s flinch at that, but I didn’t say anything as I knew it was a topic he didn’t particularly like talking about. “They were raised as assassins. Pretty happy family, from what I could see, but so much bickering. It’s like having a sibling quarrel in my head non-stop.” Toshi laughed at that.
“We’ve actually heard of them before, the Three Furies, do you ?”
His eyebrows shot up in surprise.“Them? And they’re our age?” He hummed, “That’s interesting...”
His eyebrows furrowed in quiet contemplation. No doubt thinking about what I had just said. Hitoshi and I had met each other due to similar circumstances. His family had kicked him out because he had what they deemed “a villain’s quirk” and I had been abandoned for having none at all. While both of us had chased after dreams of becoming heroes and had eventually become vigilantes, it was worthwhile to think about what would have happened if we ended up in a situation like that of the Furies.
𝘞𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘸𝘦 𝘵𝘰𝘰 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘷𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘴 𝘪𝘧 𝘸𝘦 𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘤𝘶𝘦𝘥 𝘣𝘺 𝘰𝘯𝘦?
“𝘕𝘢𝘩, 𝘺𝘰𝘶’𝘳𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘺 𝘵𝘰𝘰 𝘴𝘵𝘶𝘣𝘣𝘰𝘳𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘢𝘯 𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘯,” Akame chimed. “𝘙𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺, 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘸𝘦𝘪𝘳𝘥𝘦𝘥 𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘋𝘢𝘥 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘺 𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘬 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘢𝘸𝘢𝘺 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘰𝘯𝘦’𝘴 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦.”
Naoko cackled at that, “𝘐 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘢𝘭𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘣𝘦𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯.”
I scowled deeply. “𝘞𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘥𝘦 𝘰𝘯 𝘮𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘴!?” I shot at them. “𝘐’𝘥 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘴𝘦𝘮𝘣𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘷𝘢𝘤𝘺. 𝘗𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘬 𝘺𝘰𝘶.”
They snickered a little more but I ignored them in favour of paying attention to Toshi, who had begun to say something. “Well, I guess it’s good all they do is annoy you.”
He must have noticed the confusion on my face because he began to explain, “I mean... you could have been stuck with some terrible people. Who would have tried to take control of your body.Or hurt you...” He trailed off, looking away from me.
I continued to look at the top of his head, mouth tilting downwards as I considered what he’d said. It was true;I had thought the same thing before as well. It had taken a while before we all clearly understood what had happened and had come to with the fact thatwe were all connected now.
Right after that is when Akira and Komouri had faded away and the other three had come to the decision that they would continue to stay on in my mind but they would never try to take control. In that moment, it had felt strangely comforting. I was still new to all the quirks that had been dumped on me, and still in the clutches of a sadistic scientist. It felt nice to know I wasn’t completely alone.
“𝘛𝘩𝘢𝘵’𝘴 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵, 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘣𝘦 𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘧𝘶𝘭 𝘪𝘵’𝘴 𝘶𝘴,” Akame’s insufferable voice jarred me from my thoughts. “𝘐𝘵’𝘴 𝘣𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘭𝘺 𝘰𝘣𝘷𝘪𝘰𝘶𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥𝘯’𝘵 𝘭𝘢𝘴𝘵 𝘢 𝘥𝘢𝘺 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘪𝘯𝘷𝘢𝘭𝘶𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘱𝘶𝘵,” he continued, haughty and teasing.
I likely would have shut them out again if I hadn’t known that it was his way of trying to diffuse the situation.Dragging me back from a particularly dangerous cliff that I would have tripped and fallen off.
A few moments later I was walking Hitoshi to the door, where he was tugged on a coat and looked back at me.“You’ll be okay, right?”
“Yeah, yeah.” I waved away his concern and smiled at him, about to say something but immediately gritted my teeth when Naoko piped up to say something about Hitoshi looking after the big baby.
Toshi’s brows furrowed and an amused smile took over his face but he didn’t question my change of expression. “I might be a little late so don’t stay up for me, okay? If anything happens just call me.”
I frowned, “You really shouldn’t let them order you around so much. You’re human too. Just cause they’re having a difficult time doesn’t mean they can work you to the ground.”
He chuckled, “I appreciate the concern, Izuku, but this is the only place that would hire me, I’m not going to risk losing the job.”
My frown deepened and he spoke up again, trying to reassure me. “I promise I’ll speak up if it becomes too much to handle, okay?”
I nodded and wished him goodbye, closing the door behind him once he left. Having nothing in particular to do, Ijust wandered around the house, organizing things here and there before finally picking up a book and settling down on the couch.
I was a few chapters into the book when I heard Reina’s soft voice speak up. She was a quiet person, even when she was alive, only speaking up to offer advice or to scold her siblings when she thought they were being particularly stupid. I tilted my head to the side as if to hear her better even though I could probably hear them even if I went deaf.
“𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸...𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵, 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥𝘯’𝘵 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘢 𝘷𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘢𝘪𝘯 𝘪𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘶𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘥𝘪𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘵. 𝘠𝘰𝘶’𝘳𝘦 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘶𝘴; 𝘸𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘮𝘦𝘥 𝘶𝘴. After that final remark her voice faded away. None of them said anything as I sat there, book forgotten on my lap, leaving me to think about what she had just said.
THE END
A/N- I'm pretty sure this doesn't make much sense, but fear not! Part two will make everything clear! Or at least I hope so...
I was kinda confused as to how to go about the fusion prompt. Our leader told us to use Steven's Universe as reference but I never watched it before and didn't have time to watch it this month so I just ended up using the closest thing in the MHA verse which is the Vestiges. We don't know much about them but I used whatever we know from AFO, Deku and Shigaraki to write this.
Feel free to pester me for a part 2 cause I might end up procrastinating a lot.
Thank you for reading. Have a lovely day!
