Moderative Update PSA
Hey all! Shark here, bubbling through to bring you a PSA and update on the group chat for the OCO.
Recently, we've welcomed a large handful of wonderful new to the group. The chat has been very busy and we're happy to see everyone interacting so much.
With this, there are some issues we need to address, and place some more firm guidelines as well as reminders of current ones for content to help keep the peace and make things more enjoyable and safe as a whole for our diverse group of .
- Please keep things PG13.
This is not just because it's an Amino guideline, but there ARE minors in our group! Even if someone is not a minor, they may be uncomfortable with certain subjects.
- Be considerate about subject discussion.
This can include things like gore, trauma, mental health, etc. While these components are very common in OC development, please ask the currently active chatters if they are comfortable with the subject(s) before you discuss them. If someone is uncomfortable with it, do NOT discuss it. Wait until another time or see if anyone is willing to discuss in private. If you are uncomfortable at any time about something like this, please voice it. If someone says they are uncomfortable, STOP IMMEDIATELY and do not cause an issue about having to change the subject. Do not mock or question other for being uncomfortable with a sensitive subject, just respect it and move on. Disrespect to this rule will result in a warning.
- The OCO is not your therapist.
This is a difficult one. While we all have our issues and like to see this group as a little family we want to help and be there for, there are limitations. If you need to discuss something personal that is bothering you, please ask first, and please disclose the nature of the discussion to make sure everyone is comfortable. If anyone is uncomfortable, again, please stop the discussion, and feel free to ask if someone can continue with you in private. We all have our down days, especially as creatives, but not everyone can always handle that weight at every given moment even if we always would like to.
If you are found to be aimlessly complaining, especially on a regular basis, without any attempt to listen to advice or arguing at others, you will be asked to stop and may be issued a warning depending on the subject matter.
:warning: If you are experiencing suicidal thoughts, self-harming, etc, please do not bring it up in the group chat, but a professional immediately instead. We cannot be responsible for you in this way and want you to get the help you need and be safe. :warning:
- OC Discussion is PRIORITY.
No matter what the topic at hand, if someone pokes in and asks about something with OCs, we ask you put a pause to it and let the OC related discussion take place. If someone is asking for help, please don't talk over them, and if they are missed (this does happen cause it gets busy sometimes) feel free to re-ask, and if you see it, be a pal and point it out so they can get help!
- Spam. Don't do it.
So we're getting to that size where this is a bit of an issue. When the chat is busy, please make an effort to condense your posts into short paragraphs rather than posting a few words at a time in quick succession. If you're posting 3-4 short chat bubbles each time you speak, you should probably consider starting to breathe a little between posts and bring them together a bit.
This also includes sticker spam. Please try to avoid using a bunch of stickers during busy times. These rules will of course be more lax when the chat is less busy, but should still be kept in mind out of courtesy.
- Linked Content
Please consider the content you are linking in chat. Again, make sure it is PG13 appropriate as we have minors present and it is part of amino guidelines.
- mods if you have an issue.
If you are having any problems within the chat, feel free to one of the mods (Niji, Shark, Mira) and let them know. We are here to help you! All issues will be discussed amongst the mods so fair decisions can be made on things, too. We absolutely cannot stress this enough, especially if you are too shy to stick up for yourself in the group. Don't bottle it up. We want to make this group a fun, productive place to be. If there is an issue preventing this, please let us know so we can do our best to help fix that.

With that we will conclude the PSA on our chat guidelines and updates to such.
If you have any questions, comments, concerns, feel free to voice them or a mod about it.
