Do you think Endeavor deserves--or deserved, idk, I'm not caught up with the manga or anime yet--redemption even after abusing his son, Shoto, and his wife?

Edit: In my opinion, I guess that is up to Shoto himself, if he is willing forgive his father for everything that he has done to him and the rest of his family; however, in a realistic situation, if a victim of childhood abuse were to get away from a toxic parent, they would (or should) cut all ties from the latter. But seeing as how he still relies on his father as a driving force for his dream of being hero, he doesn't have much of an option.

Now, let's be real for a second, as much as I think Shoto has the choice to forgive his father, as far as "true" redemption goes, I don't think Endeavor has done enough to earn that. Sure he does feel guilty for all the hurt that he has inflicted, but guilt doesn't compensate as real redemption; I mean, he verbally abused his son's mother to a point where she experienced severe psychological damage and ended up hurting and traumatizing Shoto and that's something you can't fix. Overtime maybe, but it's still painful to go through.

If I were (and I'm not saying I have been) in a toxic situation where one of my parents was abusive to the other and I got hurt in the process, I wouldn't feel safe around that parent. I have read or heard about real cases of child abuse and they're all subjective in of case study, but they're all similar nonetheless; some have good outcomes, others don't. Also, Shoto isn't the only anime character that has gone through this kind of thing. There are some bad parents in anime that have been punished for what they did to their kids, but some have not.

As far as Endeavor's redemption, or perhaps consequences, go, we're not sure at this point. Maybe Shoto will completely forgive him, or he could be given a Gendo Ikari-esque ending where he dies horribly at the hands of another villain. Who knows, that's up to Horikoshi to decide.

I'm not saying this to be petty, but rather in a realistic point of view, even if he did change, if I were in Shoto's shoes, I wouldn't have much to do with him and I would be detached from him because of the severe trauma. Granted, it's an anime and we shouldn't take it too literally, but still in my opinion, if Endeavor wants to change he can do that, we should let Shoto decide if he can forgive him which he probably will.
