November 2019 Favorites & Flops

Hello everyone, it’s Glory, and I hope you are having a wonderful day!

Can you believe it’s November already? This year has flown by, and there have been a lot of hits, but also a lot of flops. Next month I will be posting my top 50 K-Pop songs of the year, as well as my least favorite songs. I will probably do a December post as well, but maybe not at the very end of the month. It’s very unlikely that anything released in December will be on my year list, but I still want to share my favorites.

You know the drill, in this post I will be discussing my favorite songs and artists this month. They will not necessarily be from November 2019; they are just songs and artists I listened to the most during this month.

After the favorites I’ll tell you about the flops. These will be the songs that came out this month but weren’t really my cup of tea.

Love Poem

IU

I’ll talk about IU’s actual comeback single in a little bit, but first, let’s discuss her pre-release song. It’s a beautifully touching ballad that suits her sweet and gentle voice perfectly. If you’re feeling artsy, try listening to this while gazing out the window as the snow falls.

You Calling My Name

This came out pretty early in the month, and after watching the music video, I ed it but didn’t listen to it for a long time. About halfway through the month, I couldn’t even what it sounded like, but I decided to give it another shot, and it immediately grabbed me in a way that it hadn’t the first time. The set of notes that starts the chorus is really what did it for me. If you like more chill pop songs, this could be for you. It reminds me a little of the Jonas Brothers’ new style.

Flower Shower

HyunA

Our girl crush goddess came back with a fresh style that is tailored to her more innocent side. To me, the song is about rebirth as your true self, which is a fitting message for the queen of self-empowerment.

Dumb

BVNDIT

BVNDIT is by far my favorite rookie girl group of this year, and their third single did not disappoint. It’s got the perfect level of sass, and all the components of the song are simply captivating.

Congratulations

Eric Nam (feat Marc E. Bassy)

Eric Nam is absurdly slept on. His voice is gorgeous, and the single from his first English album is the perfect way to celebrate the end of a relationship. I was a little scared when I saw that there was a featured artist, but his voice goes along with Eric Nam’s really well and adds a new dimension to the song.

IU

And here’s the second IU song on my list! It’s another one to warm your soul during these cold winter months (unless you’re one of the lucky ones who don’t have a real winter and think 50 degrees is cold). The guitar in this song is the best backdrop to her voice for this fresh, summer-in-November concept.

As You Wish

WJSN

After their summer comeback fell flat for me, WJSN has picked it back up with this one. It captures their signature sound without copy and pasting from their past hits. It’s very pretty and dainty, but still has strong vocals.

Blue Flame

Astro

I think this is Astro’s best song yet. The concept fits them perfectly, the vocals are strong yet beautiful, and the rap segments are well placed. The chorus is so satisfying to listen to, especially the way they sing “flame” and draw it out just so.

EXO

The kings came back with a bang, despite missing three . The whole album is filled with unique styles and the powerful vocals that EXO is known for. My favorite songs off the album are Obsession, Groove, and Butterfly Effect.

CIX

After CIX’s debut with Movie Star, I was really looking forward to this comeback. The song started off SO promising, but then the chorus hit, and I couldn’t even listen to the rest. The beat drop disgusts me.
