Oktopeto | "Okto" referring to "octopus" despite only having 2 tentacles. "peto" being a word they say often; it means "devour" in their language. | It has no real origin, it's just something the Oktopeto call themselves.

✧Lifespan✧

60-70 years on average.

✧Species’ Chronological Age✧

I dunno? A few million years?

✧Diet✧

Carnivore | Hunter | They'll eat about anything they can kill. Fish, dolphins, sharks, crabs, sea turtles, ect. Even humans, if they come close enough.

✧Intelligence✧

They're just as smart as a human, only in different ways due to their environment. I'd describe them as super intelligent.

✧Locomotion✧

They can swim very well, but can also walk.

✧Defense mechanism✧

They have very sharp teeth as well as tentacles in place of arms, which they can use to choke someone.

✧Powers/abilities✧

They have webbed feet so they can swim better, but also walk. They have tentacles so they can grab onto things. Most amazingly, if they were to lose a tentacle, it would grow back in only 6 weeks.

✧Habitat✧

Some live on the floor of the ocean, making cities out of caves. However, they have also been seen living closer to shore in reefs. There's more than one community of Oktopeto, after all. | They're very adaptable to weather but have done better in the warmth. However, the ones near the bottom of the ocean are better with cold than the ones who live in the reefs. | They are seen in cities and towns by reefs and also in cave systems at the bottom of the ocean. p nice.

✧Communication✧

They all speak their own language | They will often play by wrapping their tentacles together and trying to untangle them (more common in the children.) | When agitated they make loud clicks with their tongues. They might also screech. If they screech, they are most likely calling their friends to share the meal they just found, so you're toast.

✧Physical Interaction✧

Oktopeto in love may leave bite marks on eachother. This is a tradition of the species and it signifies their marriage, much like a ring would to us. Oktopeto who haven't married are more likely to just hold eachothers tentacles like we would hold hands. On rare occasions, Oktopeto will fight eachother, but only in self defense or when their loved ones are threatened.

✧Social Interaction✧

Though hostile to others, Oktopeto are very affectionate, caring, and playful to people of their species. They will not fight unless it's a game or it's personal and serious. They won't fight over leadership of their community, and that reason I will get to shortly.

The ones by the reefs are less hostile than the ones near the bottom of the ocean but will still attack when hungry or provoked.

✧Creation✧

Evolution and stuff happened, and one day an Oktopeto hatched out of an egg. I don't know science, call Bill Nye-

✧General History✧

The Oktopeto used to live as one crowded group, but since resources were becoming scarce, they split into two groups. One group lived by the reefs and the other at the bottom of the ocean. This has proven to be beneficial for their ecosystem.

✧Beliefs✧

They believe there is a giant Oktopeto god called the Rhevpi who watches their every move from the sea of clouds (what they call the sky) and keeps them safe as long as they give a sacrifice every month. Because of this, every month a few Oktopeto will leave the ocean and look for a human to sacrifice; the Rhevpi wants revenge on them for polluting the seas. They will drag them into the ocean and tear them limb from limb, then eat them alive to amuse the god. Yikes.

✧Male appearance✧

An adolescent male will look similar to a female, probably not being much taller. The difference is that they have different genitalia and no breasts.

✧Female appearance✧

Here would be an adolescent female.

✧Overall appearance✧

they have light blue skin, tentacles which vary in length, and webbed feet. Their eyes are big, they have gills on their neck and body. Their hair is good against water and it usually comes white, or blue, but sometimes it's green. There are rare cases of Oktopeto with white skin and hair, but this occurs only in their royalty. | They are first eggs, many at a time, but then they hatch as baby oktopeto. Imagine a baby with tentacle arms. | The adolescents are usually rather short and cute from 4 to 5 feet, but they are still vicious. | The adults are big, around 6-7 feet, but they don't reach this size until they're about 30. Most of their life they are adolescents. They usually have lots of muscle.

Big black eyes, tentacle arms, gills on their neck and body, lack of ears (there are only holes in the sides of their heads though it is a popular fashion trend to decorate them with fins), legs, and blue skin.

✧Goverment System✧

Each society of Oktopeto have this system of leadership. The pure white Oktopeto make up the royal family because that colour only runs through the royal genes. This happened because long ago, when they had no ruler, the first white-skinned Oktopeto baby was born and since they'd never seen anything like it they thought it was a messenger of the god Rhevpi. Because of this, these white skinned messengers of the Oktopeto are in charge of their cities and of their religious ceremonies, such as the monthly sacrifice.
