Gunfire could be heard in the large tunnel beneath Alaska, where the trio of mutants were on the defensive against a lone guard that shown themselves to be something that wasn't alive but not dead either.

It was a being that teeters between the borders of it - a legitimate being the undead.

"Damnit," cursed Dana while having been shot by the guard who's body was wounded with deep cuts, a missing arm, and a broken neck. "What's it gonna take to kill this guy!?"

Carmilla Reese had thrown a spark from her hand to cause an explosion to erupt near the guard. His body was flung by the force of it and smacking into the metal walls of the tunnel, sliding down and appearing lifeless. There was a moment of hope that he was dead. Then with a crackling of ts did he rise back up, legs bent in an unusual way that shocked the trio to be in disbelief of how he could still be standing.

"Hoo boy... he's a tough cookie to crack. Hey look, he's healing too, like you, badger girl." Worst pointed out this ability as the cuts on his chest sealed, with his bones cracking and shifting back into place. However, they each saw one noticeable flaw in the regeneration that the zombie had.

His arm that was missing didn't grow back at all, remaining as a stump on the body it had.

"Okay... so he can't grow back limbs, that's great, totally cool, but how in heck do we put him down for good," asked Dana with an annoyance over their enemy being virtually unstoppable.

Worst turned to her while shrugging, and said, "Well I don't know, it's the first time I've seen one of these yahoos. We'll just have to beat him up and remove those limbs of his."

The guard continued his onslaught of bullets that peppered towards the trio as they soon rushed in on him.

Dana would go first, claws cutting into remaining arm.

Worst moved in and fired a nail with enough speed to severe the leg from the knee.

And Carmilla would slam her palm against the torso, igniting a spark between it and her palm, exploding the body into pieces.

The three had won with the only parts of the guard left was half of his torso. He began to emit a groan while sluggishly writhing on his back. He was alive and still unfazed by the injuries that were obviously fatal beyond comprehension. They couldn't understand how on earth he could be still alive in the state he was in. Then a strong smell reached Dana's nose. "Ugh...he smells even more horrible than the last time with his insides all out!" She stepped back to try to block it out, but paused with the two girls looking at her. Wait a minute," she began to say and stomp over to the demolished guard who stared at them with lifeless eyes.

"You picked up something, Dana?" Carmilla had asked her with a brow raised when seeing her companion lift the torso and sit it against the wall.

"I'm not so sure, but something is smelling off in it's chest. Hard to tell since his body smells like a rotting corpse. Hold on a minute."

The two behind her didn't understand what she was doing, and went wide-eyed to seeing Dana nonchalantly stab the guard through his chest; rummaging inside it like it were a children's treasure chest. "I-Is she always like this...," asked Worst with a disgusted and shocked look on her face.

"Heh heh, she's definitely not your typical girl, I'll tell you that," answered Carmilla as she observed Dana perform the grotesque action against the guard who groaned continuously.

With a sudden and triumph "AHAH!" Did Dana pull out what looked to be his heart.

It didn't look as though it was a heart of a human: six writhing tentacles squirmed while connected to a blob of flesh that had black and blue veins all over it. The smell it secreted was enough to make them crinkle their nose in disgust of it. "This is what I was smell," said Dana while showing it to the two. With her claws lightly digging into it, the guard let out a raspy and loud cry of agony in response, catching them off guard.

Dana blinked for a moment...then smiled widely as she squeezed the organ harder, watching the guard scream and writhe against the wall. And with one quick squeeze that pierced the organ, the guard groaned and slowly went limp. No more sounds came out of him as his body decayed until it was more of a husk.

"I think I just found their weak point eh?" Dana looked at the two as she said this so nonchalantly with a grin on her face.

"She's.... She's definitely a sadist," said Worst with Carmilla offering a nervous chuckle in response.

Further within the facility, in a room with a hospital bed was the man wearing a pinstripe suit. He was sitting on chair by the bed, with a fourteen year old boy lying on it. His face was sickly, his eyes being dark around them while breathing through a tube in his sleep.

He was the man's son, the reason behind his work there in the facility. The boy had an illness that was said by the doctors to have an inevitable outcome, one that meant his death. So his father has chosen a path away from the light as a way to save his son from a fate that had already happened to another he had loved, and that was the man's wife and the mother of the boy lying in the bed.

"Simon...my dear boy. I haven't given up. I'll make sure you live to grow old. I'm nearly there, my work is almost done here, and you will live your life. Just as your mother hoped for you the day you were born."

The father was watching him with a determined light in his eyes that came with the conviction of a man using anything he had to, to reach his goals. And in his position, he had made deal with someone who may have certainly been the devil; his position, resources, and achievements of the inhumane things of the facility. He was dedicated to the work for the sake of his beloved son, Simon Clarke.

His eyes wavered while the vibration of his phone buzzing against his leg, reaching to grab it from his pocket with a quick press of a button to answer it.

"Yes?...hmm. Everything is going as planned. A slight hiccup appeared and I have it handled. We'll be done soon with the latest batch of bio-men to distribute in about 24-hours. You have my word. Bye." He was speaking to his benefactor for the facility, and hung up after a brief conversation with the person on the phone. A light sigh and a punch between his eyes was made while one of the guards(a human one)entered the hospital room.

"Mr. Isaac..?" He said with a small pad in hand with a screen on it. The man's name was called, causing him to turn around to see the fellow approach him. The pad was handed over to him. On the screen was that tunnel leading to the main facility. And inside, navigating the tunnel, were the three mercs that have tresed. "I should have guessed one bio-soldier was inept to thwart them. Bothersome bunch."

"What should we do now?" Asked the guard as Isaac rose up and fixed his suit and tie.

"Have some men greet those brats. I wish to meet them myself before I have a complete judgement of the situation. Come along."

They left the boy's room and walked through a hallway with Isaac intending to know who the tresers were and their intentions for the underground facility.

-----

"Aaaaand we're here! See I told you I'd get us there!"

"Yeah, but you didn't mention the zombie guy waiting for us."

"I think we're just lucky it was just one of them. If anymore, we'd probably have more trouble than it's worth."

Carmilla looked at her companions while they marched onto the large doors that acted as the entrance to their destination. The walk from the ladder, fighting the strange guard, and then trekking the tunnel had felt as if they were walking for a long time. And now they were there - at the very foot of the facility that was to be the location of Bomber and Ratel's objective.

It felt as if they were nearing it's end, and that the rest of the mission was to be an easy road to travel.

Unfortunately, that wouldn't be the case.

The three approached the doors of the facility, where it began to open with a loud creaking of metal ts, followed by an alarm that blared loudly with the flashing of orange warning lights. It made the three pause in their tracks as the large door revealed armed guards, all human as they formed a line that approached them. Their weapons clicked as they aimed down their sights, ready to open fire on them.

But none pulled the trigger. They stared at the three who were ready for a fight, and watched as their boss emerged from behind them; fixing his tie while taking position in front of the group of ten guards.

"Who are you and what are you doing in my facility," asked Isaac while keeping a calm and collective look. He looked at the three and noticed one of them was a mercenary he had employed to guard the mining town just above ground. His eyes lowered a bit to a sharpened look towards her. "It appears that gun-for-hires are truly a creature with no loyalties but to themselves, I see."

Worst looked at him, and offered only a shrug and said, "What can I say? The pay isn't that grand enough to lose my life over."

"... Hmph. You two, are you friends of hers or merely ing forces on whatever endeavor you intend to accomplish here?" Isaac looked at Dana and Carmilla when asking this question. But they didn't answer him, only maintaining their silence. "Matters little either way. I can't afford to have you all meddle in my plans. So I believe this is the end for you three. I'll make sure to put your bodies to good use once my men have disposed of you."

He turned and with a wave did he return behind the ten-man firing squad.

"Great...now we can get to the fun part," said Dana while growling lowly.

"Guess it was unavoidable to sneak into this place. Let's make this quick and get inside," said Carmilla as she readied herself.

Worst smiled and generated electricity around her body, and said, "Yessir, boss-lady."

Both sides would begin their assault.

-----

From the surface, facing the old well near the town, Carly and Zofia Rhinebeck were staring down the hole that led underground. They have been following the scent of the one whom they knew to be their younger sibling, as the blood from the snow they found in the mining town was hers, and the path she took alongside her companions had led to the well.

Zofia wondered about the reason for their little sister's presence in Alaska; 3 months having ed since they last saw another in New York when most of their siblings were drawn their by the progenitor - their mother, Anne Rhinebeck(the Evolved). But with the blood of their sister on the snow, leading to here at the well, Zofia was puzzled by the strange coincidence of their kin being nearby.

For Carly, she held the same curiosity, but also the objective of their sister by coming to the well.

".... There's a tunnel down there," she began to say, "I don't know how, but beneath this well lies a tunnel. The scent leads downwards."

Zofia nodded and recalled how much blood was found by the pair a little while ago, and said, "Do you think Dana is okay?" To her younger sister, Carly said, "She's a tough kid to crack. Arrogant, but tough by her own right. If she's down there with whoever she's with, then we must be going in the right direction. Perhaps we're drawing near to the very place we're looking for."

"But I don't get it, why would she leave New York? It doesn't seem like her to leave Keiko and the others behind," said Zofia as she followed Carly into the well.

"I'm as confused as you. Hopefully we can find out for ourselves if we can catch up to her."

The duo would make their way down into the dark well.

-----

Bullets flew all over the tunnel by the guards of the underground facility. The sounds of gunfire ringing without any end. Their targets, the ones who have intruded into the tunnels, ran around to dodge the speeding bullets -- dancing being a strange term for it as they maneuvered in ways that aided their performance to avoid harm.

Carmilla spun into a stance that had a crouch to it. Her right arm was grasping several rocks that she proceeded to throw at their attackers.

Boom~

A single word and those rocks exploded onto their position.

Zip, zip, zip, slide

Worst would do just that - zipping and sliding across the metal flour, doused in a current of electricity that aided her speed when running. She would already brush ed some of those guards, stabbing their necks with nails with enough force to severe their carotid artery.

Hra~~~h!!!

Claws slashed across a guard, and a heavy kick that collided into another. Dana had her struck down a small group while tanking the gunfire that would have made her like swiss cheese.

The three were decimating the guards with little effort in their abilities. Soon enough they would win this encounter with the facility's forces.

But from the doors emerged a strange thing. It was tall, around eight feet in stature, covered in a mass of writhing tendrils. There was a body within it, but little could be seen of who it was or what it could be, other than a face that was deformed and letting out a wailing sound.

(Resident Evil 5 concept art labeled "Uroboros Test Subject".)

The trio looked on in utter shock of this strange creature that wobbled towards them, wailing and attacking the guards that were left in it's vicinity.

"Oh, what the hell do you call that?" Asked Carmilla to Worst, who looked as equally shocked as her.

"If I knew I wouldn't be so sickened by it," answered Worst.

"Now's not the time for being stuck, you two! Here it comes!" Dana cried out while picking up one of the guns left by the disposed guards, and fired onto the creature's body.

In response, the loud creature wailed as bullets pelted it's body. The writhing tendrils flew as they hit it, and dissolved like water on a heated frying pan. But that didn't lessen the mass of writhing tendrils, which soon gave Dana attention. With a loud squeal did it's arm shoot forward; elongated to crash right into it's mark that was the Ratel. Into the wall would Dana be pinned by that arm, wincing from the impact.

"Dana!!" Exclaimed Carmilla. Then she would pick up two of those guns on the floor, one in each hand as she threw them towards the creature's body; igniting them to explode in a loud display of lights. Worst ed her in the assault, drawing from her satchel nuts and bolts that she soon fired with the force of a sniper rifle. The creature screeched and shielded itself while at the same time releasing Dana to fall onto the floor.

"Ooh my head..." She groaned and lifted herself up to see the chaotic scene grow with her allies dodging the tendrils of the tall creature. Her eyes watched closely the damage inflicted on it. Then a revelation unfolded.

"This thing regenerates fast," she thought. "The gunshots I made aren't even existent on it. Same goes for Worst's sniper shots, and even Carmilla's explosives aren't packing much to stop it's healing. This is worst than that strange guard from before. How the hell are we supposed to kill this thing?"

Dana growled and wondered with the creature wailing loudly.

The battle grows dire for the three mutants.
