I'm currently volunteering at a great program called ASP. As part of it, I've been assigned to help repair homes who's residents are unable to fix themselves. My job, along with several others, was to put up new siding onto the house.
The first part we worked on was a face of the second story. We began by attaching J-Channel along the edges of the window and house face.

Here, you can see the state of the old siding and the window lined with the J-Channel.
Next, we lined the rest of the house section with the stuff and began affixing the siding.

As you can see, we were on the roof.
We quickly were at the point where we needed a ladder to finish framing with the JC, and attach the rest of the siding. So, we put up an extension ladder older than I am up on the metal roof, in our infinite wisdom.

And, because we weren't being risky enough, the universe also decided to just to add a cherry on top.

I'll post progress updates as it's made.
