The Nerconomicon in the original interpretation by Lovecraft was rather mundane to say the least, it was not a mystic book it was just normal book, leather-bound and all. But what is contained in the book is what makes it so special, as it contains alchemic rituals and otherworldly incantations to summon the Outer Gods or Great Old Ones, but a common misconception of the Nerconomicon is that it's a demonic book. When in reality, the Nerconomicon is actually a piece of alien technology, the words not written by human hands and phrases not meant for human tongues or lungs. There are 3 known copies of the Nerconomicon, each are held in a library in the scholarly work section, to gain access to it, you must ask the head librarian and you must scholar.

The Nerconomicon was written by a man named Abdul Alhazred aka the Mad Arab, but he didn't call it that, he named it "Al-Azif". It was then given it's latin translation to "nerconomicon" and later, someone translated it
There are some major problems with the Nerconomicon, "necronomicon" isn't proper latin and "Abdul Alhazred" and "Al-Azif" means absolutely nothing. The HP Lovecraft Historical Society tried to rename it of what it could've meant but that didn't stop Arabic translators to fixing it, Howard wasn't the most worldly man
But you might be wondering, "I just saw one at the book store the other day", well many people tried to cash in on Lovecraft's work after he ed away. One version of the Nerconomicon holds spells of catastrophic power and are they real? Well let's just put it this way, if there was a device of absolute power and destruction, it wouldn't be at Barnes and Nobles for 8.95. Which is both relieving and disappointing

According to my ancestor The necronomicon is not Latin. The book or bindings of flesh unspecified was found in the 1930s in the Desert lands near a known sultans ruins guarded by few known by one very powerful collector at the time. The same collector who had knowledge of the Maltese falcon. To prevent the necronomicon from being from found by a secret society bent on ruling the world it was hidden and a Person who was disturbed or considered mad was given a book which was made with various magic symbols and integrated Enochian an other forgotten cultures symbology an it was named the necronomicon to throw off people from trying to find the real one. Since all those in connection to the real necronomicon have ed on and Secret societies have come to light , I feel I’d share this , believe it or not.
To be fair a books the least alien it could get, I still think it’s for a mystical quality even if it is otherworldly on a more alien scale
Although I do prefer Sam reimi (raimi?) interpretation, it’s just more interesting ^^

Yeah that’s what I mean, in lovecrafts stories tbe necronomocon (I know that’s not how it’s being spelled it just feels weird putting the r there) was really just mcguffin that was more in the background and a reference, I don’t if anyone actually used it.
I prefer Sam raimis version because it took the books name at least and turned it into his own adaption, maybe not even that. When you think about it the necromomicon in evil dead is far more fascinating as it actually has effects on the world around it and consequences for using it. Plus I personally feel it fits more in raimis version in that regard
*I don’t mind thinks with alien or demonic themes so I guess what I’m trying to say is even if it’s not actually lovecrafts ancient book of alien writings, I like what they did with it regardless.
Evil dead 2 will forever be one of my favourite films.
