loona (oec) and aespa scandal.

hihigh everyone, i'm eve and i wanted to talk about the recent scandal regarding loona (subunit odd eye circle in particular) and aespa.

i originally posted this on kpop debate amino and i also wanted to post it here.

keep in mind i dont hate aespa or anything, unless their concept is a carbon copy of loona i will stan them. i know they had no say in this and it's sm's fault so fuck sm :heart:

so what's happening? sm/aespa has been accused of plagiarising loona/oec's concept.

in their teaser, giselle had an odd eye. this is the base of odd eye circle's concept, but i guess it could be a coincidence.

but it's not just that. these are the lyrics of twilight by kim lip, and next to them is signed "giselle". giselle is the stage name of aeri uchinaga, one of the aespa . giselle was also supposed to be choerry's stage name (next to giselle it says cheri - where her name came from). giselle is not such a common name for idols, so it makes it even more suspicious.

at the moment, aespa has 4 , but there are rumours that they will have 12 and 3 subunits. this is not yet confirmed, but 12 and 3 subunits is loona's thing, and it's worrying me that aespa might do the same.

aespa's lore will be about the real and virtual having to find each other, and loona's lore is about 12 from 3 different worlds having to find each other.

it might be a coincidence, however sm has recently started to work with loona. it's really strange that he starts to work with them and debuts a new gg who seems to be strangely similar to them.

also, why would he want to take part in their music when he could make such a group himself? as stated in the picture below, loona is the first non-sm group sm has produced for. loona is from a small company, has so much potential, but since when does sm want to invest in such groups? it's weird, he may've been interested in their concept and pretended to want to work with them to be able to rip their concept off.

then there is this: it's unknown whether it's true or not but i'm still going to include it.

bbc's previous choreographer has allegedly sold information about loona and their lore to sm:

if this is true, then it's basically confirmed.

what's the problem?

as you probably know, loona, oec and their concept aren't very well known. if aespa rips it off, the concept will be known as theirs. they are undoubtedly going to be more popular than loona because they are a sm, big 3 group. they should at least credit loona so people know the concept idea wasn't originally theirs (even though loona don't own the concept of the odd eye, there is too many similarities for it to not be a coincidence).

i highly doubt bbc will be able to defend themselves and sue sm for plagiarism. bbc is ass when it comes to taking something to court (they didnt even show up. they lost the lawsuit.) so i doubt they will be able to prove anything.

my thoughts

i do think that sm plagiarised loona for aespa. there are too many similarities for it to be a coincidence. i'm going to wait for their debut mv to come out to see.
