The Fourth

Pomarańczowe Drzwi

Stepping through the orange door, you immediately trip over a blue chair that seems to have been knocked over from the door opening. A loud, somewhat obnoxious screech accompanies your fall. Getting up and brushing yourself off, you look around the room you’re now standing in. It’s a pretty simple bedroom with blue walls and floor and various (almost cartoony?) pieces of furniture basically where you’d expect they’d be. The only questionable thing is…uh…the source of the screaming that is somehow still going on?

A girl in black-green-and-white pajamas is sitting in a circle of what looks like presents? And balloons? Is that cake? It looks like she was trying to summon a child demon.

The girl continues to scream. She is very loud.

You walk over and tap her shoulder so she’ll open her eyes and stop screaming. This she does.

“Oh haha you’re not frog guy!”

“wh-“

“Here come me I was trying to like chill and eat my candy but then frog guy showed up again so I had to chase him out and so now I was cleaning up my room and decided to have a circle party! Want some cake?”

She shoves a cupcake in your mouth before you have time to respond.

“I’m Yeojin and I’m probably taller than you WAIT WAIT don’t stand up (while we’re sitting we don’t technically know. I could be taller) wait who are you how’d you get in here whatever at least you aren’t frog guy he’s super creepy you’re not creepy except for the fact that you came from a door in my bedroom I guess that’s a bit creepy but you’re cool and you like cupcakes so you can stay come on!”

Yeojin drags you up off the ground and you’re almost dizzy from all the talking she’s doing. She quickly runs into another room and changes into a cute red dress, then pulls you into the kitchen which has various bowls of gummy candy on the table that look like they’ve been set up by a six-year-old trying to imitate a five-course meal. Yeojin sits you down at the table and gestures towards the bulky plastic silverware.

“Eat up!” she says with utmost confidence that this is normal. She herself picks up her own bowl of candy noodles and starts humming while munching on them. You begin to pick up some candy when you notice that there’s now more noise to the music than just her humming. Looking around, you notice three small frogs on the windowsill providing backup vocals for Yeojin’s song. You drop the candy out of your mouth in awe. Yeojin notices this and stops humming, making the frogs quickly hop away before she gets a chance to see them.

“Ugh is frog guy outside?” She stands up and moves towards the window. You start freaking out a a huge frog-masked guy pops up outside.

“GO! AWAY!” Yeojin yells (unfortunately not giving you warning). The frog pops back down out of view and Yeojin sighs.

“I guess I should explain huh? Ok so that frog guy has been like…SUPER into me or something he’s been everywhere I swear I turn on the TV BOOM he’s there. I try to eat noodles BOOM he’s there. I do literally anything BOOM he’s there, and I think he wants a kiss but like EW NO I don’t want to kiss anyone right now, especially not a creepy frog guy!”

After hearing of Yeojin’s plight, you decide to help her with her frog problem. Your desire to do so doubles as you notice that some of the pastries on the table have flies on them-

And so the two of you go back into Yeojin’s room to plan. You decide that maybe the way to get frog guy to leave is to give him what he wants, a kiss. Yeojin is visibly disgusted by this. Eventually she does agree, though, that the frog guy probably wants a date, evident by his tuxedo, gifts, and intent to kiss her. So it is decided that she will try a date. Considering that the frog seems to know wherever Yeojin is, you figure that informing him of the impending date is unnecessary.

Yeojin goes into the other room again and changes into a princess-y white dress, complete with a mini crown. You tell her she looks adorable, and she counters that she looks “BEAUTIFUL. GROWN UP AND BEAUTIFUL, THANK YOU VERY MUCH!”

You follow her to a dramatically dark room with only a dining set and a chandelier lightened in the middle. You head to the edge of the dark room where you can’t be seen as she sits down at the table. It’s not three seconds before frog guy shows up and sits down as well.

You watch as they act out a date, eating a full dinner of candy noodles that seem to just appear. Apparently Yeojin gets sort of into it, as she starts singing for frog guy. You notice those three frogs from earlier appear over her shoulders, but she again doesn’t notice.

Nearing the end of the date, Yeojin takes a quick glance over at you and you give a barely-visible thumbs up, telling her that now’s the time. She leans in, and the frog guy leans in as well until-

“AGH NO NEVERMIND I’M OUT!” Yeojin yells and runs away from the table. You stand up and follow her out, leaving frog guy to cry under the chandelier.

You find her back in her bedroom, pouting on the bed with her arms crossed, back in her pajamas.

“I don’t want to kiss the stupid frog guy. I don’t care if it gets him to go away! He’s gross!”

You giggle a bit. You agree to not pressure her to kiss frog guy anymore, and that Yeojin might as well go to sleep. She runs off to go brush her teeth.

You’re trying to decide whether you should leave or if you should ask to stay the night so the two of you could tackle the frog problem tomorrow but before you can Yeojin screams and tears back into the room.

“I TRIED I SWEAR I WAS GONNA KISS HIM IT WAS GONNA WORK THIS TIME BUT UGH I JUST COULDN’T I EVEN THREW UP A LITTLE AUAHAHAUAHASHH”

You can’t help but laugh up a storm at her frantic behavior. She’s still running around screeching at a scarily high-pitched volume when you notice frog guy peeking around the corner.

You decide that Yeojin is never gonna kiss the frog. You it that you wouldn’t either. But you have no other way to get rid of him, so you decide you might as well just bring Yeojin back with you into the white room. You reach your hands out to stop her running and tell her your plan. She agrees to leave (“I never liked this house anyway there’s never enough yogurt”) so you open up the door you originally fell through and gesture for her to hop through.

You do a swift jump through the doorway after her. She’s screaming again (figures) and running around the white room, her fingers grazing over each of the doors. As she’s doing this, you turn around to close the orange door, having to shove frog guy (who in a last-ditch attempt shoved his head through the door) back in order for it to shut.

You want to suggest that Yeojin go through another door, but you are never able to get a word in as she continues running and yelling and rambling with no rest for what feels like months. The light blue-grey door on the opposite wall looks enticing, but you never get there. Well, not yet…
