You have either worn them yourself or know someone that’s worn them.

You wear them to feel beautiful or accentuate feminine features. They make your lashes longer and draw attention to your eyes.

I am guilty of wearing fake lashes and having a few pairs myself.

But what are fake lashes made out of?

short legs, pointed snouts and claws. These soft

creatures are related to ermines, ferrets and

weasels and look much like their relatives. Their fur

is highly valued. There are two species of minks:

Fake Lashes

Minks are the most commonly farmed fur-bearing animal.

85% of fur comes from fur factory farms which can hold up to thousands of animals.

In Russia, 2,000 animals were once stored in 700 cages.

The cages they live in are very unhygienic and can contain parasites and other bacteria and bugs.

You can look up “Mink Wire Cages” to understand just how small these cages are, but be aware, the photos you may find are VERY disturbing. That is why I will refrain from including any.

Minks are supposed to live for around ten years, but minks in fur farms only live for 6 months, or 5-6 years if they are used for breeding.

There are few to no laws protecting animals from being farmed, so their deaths are very gruesome, and unfortunately for some, long and painful.

It is important to that not ALL false lashes are made from mink/animal fur. Some lashes are rather made from faux (fake) material. It is important to do your research on lash brands before you make a purchase.

Every pair of lashes or fur coat bought is promoting the continuation of fur farms. So please, do your part in stopping the abuse of these sweet animals who should not be spending their short lives crammed in cages facing horrific treatment.

A happy, healthy, and living mink is much more beautiful than you are wearing a pair of false lashes and a dead mink is much more ugly than you without some lashes.
