What is Gender Identity? (Awareness Week Chall)

➳ Gender is different than sex. Although genetic factors typically define a person’s sex, gender refers to how they identify on the inside. Only the person themselves can determine what their gender identity is. This term refers to the personal sense of an individual’s own gender. Some people identify as a man, while others identify as a woman. Others may identify as neither, both, or somewhere in-between.

➳ The topic is about Gender Identity and its different types.

Why did you choose this topic?

➳ Since this is the LGBT+ Amino, I thought I should provide some information for the to be more aware about our community. I have noticed that many are still unfamiliar with the words and some of them can be called out because of mistakes due to lack of awareness and knowledge.

Why does this topic need awareness?

➳ As a member of the LGBTQ+ Community, we have to be aware of our gender identities to avoid confusion and also to be able to help those who are still figuring who or what they are.
