hello everyone! my name is grass and today i’m participating in the marvel pride mash up! #marvelpride

i love both everything gay and recently i’ve recently been getting into marvel. i grew up with dc but it’s never too late to learn all about the world of marvel! so let me get into one of the first marvel characters i heard about...

LOKI

from the moment i heard about him i immediately loved him, mainly because he’s great and out of all the marvel cast he’s someone you could definitely consider apart of the lgbt.

┊ why did i choose this character?

┊ what do i like about this character?

┊ what would i change about this character?

the two main things he is considered to be are both pansexual and genderfluid due to the fact that he had the ability to change genders whenever he pleases.

i mainly chose him, not just because he’s glorious but because i’m really fascinated with his whole story and how his sexuality/gender works. in both the mythology and comics his sexuality and gender was fluid and he seemed to base it on trickery a lot. which lead to does he really like them or was it for a purpose?

which it’s not that clear on, he seems to be content with being a male or female given he liked to be referred to as a female when he had the appearance of one. same with when he was a male.

i know when he’s shape shifted into a female in mythology it was always for a reason, one was so he could fake being a women to keep someone trapped in hell and the other was to stop the building of a wall. but in the comics it seemed that he embraced being a woman and even described how his culture was more care free when it came to sexuality.

pretty much everything, sure he’s a bit of an oof with all his tricks and everything but overall he’s one of my favorite villains turned good and i think he’s one of marvels greatest characters.

he has a lot of depth to him between mythology, comics and movies. he is considered a villain for what he did to earth and trying to take over the universe but he’s still a fan favorite by most and given his backstory with odin not being the best of parents and being second favorite to thor you feel bad about what he had to deal with. he’s made mistakes but in the end he turned around and became one of the most iconic villains in marvel. cheers to that.

i like how even if it’s not explicit with how he’s comfortable in both gender forms it’s still hinted in comics and it is still there nonetheless. it’s really great to see lgbt characteristics and to have them be referenced or implied.

and of course something i’d like to change would be how it’s presented with movies. of course i’ll take what I can get when it comes to lgbt things but that doesn’t change how i think it could’ve been better in movies.

i wish that the movies did more with his sexuality and the whole shape shifting thing. but i’m not surprised they didn’t because it’s a really tricky subject when dealing with how the lgbt sexualities and genders work and the whole loki not being human and how it differs and the fact that is he really bi if he’s in a woman’s form and all that stuff.

but it would still be something i’d definitely like to see someday brought up in marvel. things don’t have to be in black and white but it would be nicer to have it be more directly said then tons of hints.

i forgot to add that I would definitely like to change how he deals with situations. cuz his actions of just tricking people doesn’t always work out...

if you feel he’s not necessarily connected to the lgbt by being bisexual or genderfluid i totally get it because it’s kinda wack when you take characters that have abilities we don’t and we use for them. but these were the more common ones people use to describe loki’s gender and sexuality for us to better understand.

it’s hard to put labels on him but it’s easier to understand with labels and I think they best fit him! if you don’t wanna label him that’s also cool. but this is just how I think of him.
