Stream of Conciousness

There is always such a large gap between times I post on here. In this case, it’s been almost half a year.

So much has happened in my life just in 6 months.

Overall: I am so, so tired. I’m perpetually exhausted, but I’m still working hard.

I found out that as long as I buckle down and take a full-time course load at my community college, I’ll be able to transfer to any California State University I want by next fall. This of course also depends on if I can maintain my GPA; as of now, I have a 3.85, and it’s about to jump to a 3.9 by the end of my summer semester as long as I finish my accelerated summer classes with A’s. If I finish the remainder of my courses with A’s throughout the fall and spring semesters, I’ll graduate with honors, a 3.95 GPA, and two degrees.

Once I transfer, my goal is to pursue my Bachelor’s in Arts, majoring in Psychology with a minor in Ethnic Studies. Ultimately I want to go to grad school to obtain my Master’s degree in Social Work so I can go on to become licensed as an LCSW. If I keep pushing forward at the rate I am now, I’ll finish my Master’s in 5 years, and have my LCSW licensure in 7. I’m hoping to get this done in less, but we’ll see. I want to be a therapist, and specialize in treating the lgb and especially the transgender community. We face so much gatekeeping and discrimination when it comes to accessing mental healthcare. I want to bridge that gap and give back to the same community that has uplifted me for so long.

I’m trying very, very hard to get as many grants and scholarships as I possibly can so I won’t have to take on student loans. It’s a daunting task, but I’m working my very hardest.

In the meantime, I’m also working full time at an LGBT Community Center. I’ve been here for over 5 years now, and my work is finally paying off. I’m finally moving away from my role as the Data analyst and counseling coordinator. My role starting next month is focusing solely on Transgender Services; I’ll be able to put all my time into gathering resources and starting new services at our center that we didn’t have before. My goal by the end of this year is to start an HRT clinic that operates out of our center.

If everything works out with my training, exam, and licensure, I will also be a licensed Peer Specialist by December. Essentially, I will be a peer counselor. This is also going to give me a fairly large raise as well, so I’m trying my absolute hardest to get this done.

I guess this means that I am very, very busy, and very, very tired. I’m pushing through, because I want to make sure that I achieve my goals.
