Set Ablaze

To take the sun

in unwavering hands

hands latched in the fire

watching as promises fall to a crisp

Hand in the flame

burning once again

grasping for something I cannot reach

charcoal climbs up each fingertip

The heat of these moments

scorching to the touch

lit a fire between us

to abrasive to cut

Ashes trickle down

all the words between us

have already been said

while the light begins to dim
