Maui, Hawaii: Beach Sun Set

Why I Took It

I took this picture like this because I wanted to capture the vibrant colors of the setting sun reflecting off the crashing sea waves coming from the endless ocean, while also having the shadowed clouds and distant island background in the frame. I also chose to take it in an angle so no other people were in the frame which it feels more secluded and personal.

How It Makes Me Feel

This picture makes me feel calm. I personally love the ocean. The soothing sound of the crashing waves and the scent of the salty waters always makes me feel at peace. I also love sunsets because the colors shine beautifully, reflecting off the waters, people’s eyes, the sand, and the clouds, even the shadows casted are breathtaking. I also like sunsets because it’s a beautiful goodbye to the sun and a warm yet chilly welcome to the night. I prefer the night, the chilly air and the stars sparkling above you reassuring you there’s so much more out there. Also night is always more personal. People go home and sleep or do other business, while you can take a walk in the sweet, cold air, and not have to avoid people or listen to the constant noise people make. I also prefer cold air, so the sun was never as welcoming as the moon to me.
