Greetings fellow earthlings, and welcome to my part of this week's #takeover ! Today, I'll be discussing with you the science study of physics. Without further ado, let's get right into it! Enjoy :)

Physics is a scientific discipline that studies matter, energy, and their behaviour and movement through time and space.

The main purpose of the study of physics is to understand how the universe behaves.

The first elements of physics were drawn out from the scientific fields of astronomy, optics and mechanics. We first began understanding physics in the Archaic period in Greece, so 650-480 BCE. This was when philosopher Thales of Miletus, the "father of science", claimed that everything had a natural cause rather than a supernatural, religious or mythological explination.

Advancements were made in 580 BCE when Thales determined that water is the basic element, experimented with attraction between magnets, rubbed amber and figured out some of the first proof we have for the creation of the universe.

Further discoveries and advancements were made by several physicians and philosophers to get to where we are today. People like Aristotle, Archimedes, Ibn al-Haytham, and many many more have shaped physics into what we know it as today.

Thales of Miletus, or just Thales is known as the first philosopher of greek tradition. Despite being known as a mathematician, he did make neumerous contributions to physics, such as the idea that water is the arche, Thales' Theorem and Intercept Theorem.

Taught by none other than Plato himself, Aristotle was a greek philosopher know for founding Aristotelianism, Lyceum and the Peripatetic school of philosophy. His writings have covered a jaw-dropping amount of subjects and Aristotle was able to influence practically every single form of knowledge in the west that we know of today.

Archimedes of Syracuse is known as one of the leading scientists of the classical era. While he may be known as an incredible mathematician, he made several contributions to the world of physics ad well, such as the lever. Archimedes was not only a mathematician and physicist, but also an inventor and astronomer.

Known as "The father of modern optics", Ibn al-Haytham was a Muslin Arab mathematician, physicist and astronomer. He made several relevant contributions to the oribials of optics and visual perception. Ibn al-Haytham is known for his book, Book of Optics and many others.

Known as one of the greatest physicists of all time, Albert Einstein was a german theoretical physicists. Naturally, he is very commonly known for the equation E=mc^2, the "world's most famous equations", but he also made other contributions to physics, such as the theory of relativity, the theory of quantum mechanics and many many others.

Despite being known as an english mathematician, Isaac Newton's most relevant and famous discoveries and contributions are for the physics field. Also known for his story of the apple falling on his head, Newton developed Newton's law of Universal Gravitation, as well as Newton'sawd of Motion and classical mechanics.

Galileo di Vincenzo Bonaiuti de' Galilei, or the father of observational astronomy, modern physics, the scientific method and modern scientist, was an influencial italian astronomer. He is the brain behind analytical dynamics, heliocentrism, kinematics and many other contributions to the world of science.

There are several jobs in the physics domain. This includes things like research scientist, jobs in astronomy, jobs in healthcare, engineering, energy, technology and geophysics.

Do any of these interest you? Well, here's you plan to get your physics degree. In high school you would need to take the following courses:

English (min grade of 70%)

Advanced functions (min grade of 70%)

Calculus and Vectors (min grade of 70%)

A minimum of two of Biology, Chemistry, Earth and Space Science, Mathematics of Data Management, or Physics

These requirements will vary depending on where you live

In university / college, you would take mostly physics courses (major), math, chemistry, communications, and any other free electives.
