TW: slight mentions of death
I know for a fact that there are many people in our society who want a pet. Pets play a major role in millions of people's lives around the world. While there is absolutely nothing wrong with getting a pet because you want one so badly, it's important to really know what it means to own a pet.
From cute cuddly cats and dogs, to birds and hamsters, it may seem so perfect to be an owner for such amazing creatures. While that is definitely true, there are some disadvantages to it. Here are a just a few of the pros and cons to owning a pet.

1. Improve your overall quality of life
• Pets are there for you during your hard times. They may not be able to talk to you, but their emotional presence speaks a thousand words. Having a bad day? Your pets are sure to be there, waiting for you back home.
• You will never be able to know exactly what your pets will have planned for you on a specific day. Being surprised by them every once in a while is sure to brighten your mood.
2. Instill a sense of responsibilty
• Owning a pet means bearing a heavy responsibility. Taking care of their cleanliness, health, emotional wellbeing, and many other things. Taking care of a pet is good practice, and it definitely gives you an incentive to be more responsibility.
3. Partner
• Pets are often considered their owner's friend and even family to some. Some pets live with their owners for years, some grow up with their owners, which is bound to create an undeniable relationship between the two.

1. More Living Expenses
• A pet will no doubt add to your living expenses. The initial cost itself, including adoption fees, grooming items, a suitable place to stay will definitely cost quite a bit. Not to mention reccuring expenses such as food, toys and treats will constantly take money out of that wallet.
2. Time consuming
• Taking care of pets will take up a lot of time. In addition to things you already have to do everyday such as go to school or work, you might find that you might have not enough time to yourself or a social life. Or if you have something due, your pets are an ticking time bomb if you can't manage your time well.
3. Loss
• When I say loss, I mean loss of the pet's life. Yes, it is a touchy subject, but it something that would be inevitable nevertheless. Just like every other living being, pets live and will die at some point. However, pets tend to have such a short lifespan, so there is a high chance of having to witness your pet, which you have such a bond with, eventually leave.
• If you're not mentally prepared for this, I'd recommend maybe waiting or finding someone to take care of your pet with you, so they can share in the joy, but also the eventual grief together.

Well, that's all I have for now. , just because there are a negative reason for you to have a pet, it doesn't mean that you can never have a pet ever. Also, just because there are so many good reasons why, it doesn't necessarily mean that you really want or are ready for a pet.
For all you pet owners out there, I'm sure you all love your pets, so I don't have to tell you to cherish the time you spend with them and take good care of them, as they are living breathing beings like us as well.
🦙bye bye! :rabbit2:
