Hi! I hope y’all are having a fantastic day! Today I’m talking about something very near and dear to my heart...LGBTQ characters in the media ^^ So the media is basically television, books, movies etc... I’m going to be talking about ten of those characters that I love so much today! I hope y’all enjoy and let’s get right into it!!!
(It rates ten nine eight seven and six neutral favorite five and four favorite and three two and one absolute favorite)
Number 10. Coming in at number ten we have:
Ellen Degeneres and Portia de Rossi!!!
Ellen Degeneres first came out in 1997. She was shunned until her tv show Them Ellen Show’ came out on September 8 2003! Since then she has done so much for people especially her partner Portia. When the Australian wildfires broke out Ellen donated a large sum because Portia was Australian and was distraught over it...if that’s not true love then I don’t know what is!
Number 9. Coming in at number nine we have:
Jazz Jennings!
Jazz Jennings came out when she was very young stating ‘I’ve got a girls brain and a boys body’. Her parents were skeptical at first and her mother made her wear boy shorts and boy shirts. She then realized how heart broken jazz or jaren at the time was over it and decided to let her wear her princess shirt that she was only allowed to wear at home to school one day along with one of her sisters skirts that no longer fit. Jazz was extremely happy but the school got mad and Jazz was only allowed to wear her princess shirt. Still she was very happy. At one point she called herself sparkles because she was still young but was very happy with it for the time being. Then when she turned nine she wasn’t allowed to play soccer on the girls team. Her parents and her went through hell and back to make it so she could play on the girls team and she was finally allowed. She was interviewed twice by Barbara Walters and has a reality tv show on TLC called ‘I am Jazz’. She is also an activist for trans rights and is always a beautiful ray of sunshine!
Number 8. Next up at number eight is the boy erased himself:
Garrad Conley!!!
Where to start where to start...oh I know! Garrad was raised in Arkansas. He had a good life a good education a good family...until at age 19 when he was outed as gay. His family immediately shunned him even though his mother felt differently then his father. His mother, Martha Conley, and father, hershel Conley, made Garrad go to conversion therapy at 19. He sat there and was disgusted by its very existence. They took away his phone every time he went...and one time made the mistake of bringing his notebooks filled with stories of two boys in a relationship. They ripped out every page and handed it back to him. When he asked where the pages were they simply responded with they thought it was sinful ripped it out and burned it. He was heart broken over it. Then the conversion therapy held a conversion camp. Him and his family had to move to a hotel for it and he hated every second of it. At one point in his lifetime he was still in college and told someone about his feelings towards men. They boy then assaulted Garrad a few days later. Another few years down the line Garrad finds out he had also assaulted another boy ,this time fourteen, in their ‘youth group’. He was finally fed up and argued with his parents. His dad hit him and forced him to go back. Eventually his mother found out and took him away...and now he’s living happily with his husband!
Number 7. Number 7 is coming up now as the one the only:
Sarah McBride!!!
Sarah is a transgender woman and the first ever trans person to run for senate and is paving the way for others who would like to be like her in that aspect! She was very brave and does a lot for LGBTQ youth! She is part of the human rights campaign and her parents couldn’t love her more! This is one of the very few cases we see of parents accepting their children...but thank god she is a part of a beautiful and strong movement!

Number 6. Number 6 is coming in hot:
Kurt Hummel and Blaine Anderson!
My boys! Ah! But anyway! Kurt and Blaine are from a Netflix show called glee. Kurt came out to his dad and his dad just nods and says that he knew the moment Kurt asked for high heels on his third birthday. Kurt has a very high pitched voice which makes him an amazing person in the glee club! Blaine went into glee as well...then later started dating Kurt! In one episode Blaine assembles the whole glee club and brings Kurt to a mansion...they sing all you need is love and then...Blaine proposes!!! I just love my boys so much and their so cute!!!

Cheryl Blossom!
Okay riverdale is my life and when Cheryl came out to Toni it just made me so happy! I was so proud of her when she told the story of her and heather!! And then her and Toni start dating and it just made me so happy that a show like riverdale could give us at least a little bit of representation!!!

Number 4. Number four is awesome here they are:
Riley Cavanaugh!
Riley is a character from the book ‘symptoms of being human’ I absolutely enjoy that book because finally we have a gender fluid/non-binary character! They go through normal teenage stuff but are forced to act like a girl as they were born. It hurts them but they just pretend their fine. Then their called ‘freak’ and ‘tranny’ in school and it just lowers their spirit even more. And then to top it all off some boys at their school want to see what they have in their pants and are almost assaulted until their friends show up. It’s a truly heartfelt story about teenage drama, being true to yourself and finding love along the way and I highly recommend it! Also the character I used above is just a face claim!

Number 3. Number three is one of my favorites:
Cyrus Goodman!
Yes he is a Disney character but guess what...he’s gay as heck! He came out to his best friends and fell in love with his best friends on again off again boyfriend but got over that crush quickly. He then fell in love with a boy called tj. No one knows what tj’s sexuality is but I believe he’s a least bisexual cause you ain’t telling me that that boys straight! But yeah I highly recommend the show and I love it that Disney is now becoming open!!!

Number 2. Number 2 is my absolute second favorite!
Simon Spier!
I love him! He is awesome!! His story is about how he is outed as gay by an email written by the school bully ,Martin Addison, and then has to protect the boy he was messaging over email. It’s a very heartfelt coming of age finding who you are story and I absolutely adore it!

Number 1. Ah! My absolute favorite person in the whole world! She’s strong and sassy at the same time! Let me introduce to you...:
Luna!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ugh I love her! She comes out as trans at the end of the book and it’s not even about her it’s about her sister Reagan! I love Luna as she is so beautiful and strong and I only have good things to say about the book so before I write five million words I highly highly recommend this book!!!
