LGBT Promotion Challenge || Example Post

Hello, hello! Aurora here with an example post! This week's challenge is a super fun one. I've already seen some amazing entries come out of it and I can't way to see much more!

So I noticed a lot of people have written poems. But uh, I don't write poems. Soo I would promote LGBT rights by starting a protest in my hometown.

Alabama is one of the worst states for the LGBT community but Mobile Alabama is one of the safest counties for us. I would start a protest for the removal of the LGBT Panic Defense.

For those who don't know the LGBT Panic Defense is a legal strategy that asks a jury to find that a victim’s sexual orientation or gender identity/expression is to blame for a defendant’s violent reaction, including murder.

In simple a lawyer could say "My client attacked and killed that gay man because he was scared he was flirting with him." And a jury could see that as a valid reason for murder.

Very few states have banned this defense and Alabama is not one of them. I want to bring attention to this and Mobile is a great place to start as we have a very active LGBT community.

Part of my protest would include a public gathering at a park which is allowed by law in Alabama. We would distribute signs and allow people to speak out on their experiences being LGBT in Alabama.
