What IS stress?
Stress is a normal reaction the body has when changes occur. It can respond to these changes physically, mentally, or emotionally.
Stress is the body's reaction to any change that requires an adjustment or response. The body reacts to these changes with physical, mental, and emotional responses. Stress is a normal part of life. You can experience stress from your environment, your body, and your thoughts. Even positive life changes such as a promotion, a mortgage, or the birth of a child produce stress.

Buuuut, how does stress affect health?
⋆*:⠀ *⋆.*:・゚ .: ⋆*・゚: .⋆
The human body is designed to experience stress and react to it. Stress can be positive, keeping us alert, motivated, and ready to avoid danger. Stress becomes negative when a person faces continuous challenges without relief or relaxation between stressors. As a result, the person becomes overworked, and stress-related tension builds. The body’s autonomic nervous system has a built-in stress response that causes physiological changes to allow the body to combat stressful situations. This stress response, also known as the “fight or flight response”, is activated in case of an emergency. However, this response can become chronically activated during prolonged periods of stress. Prolonged activation of the stress response causes wear and tear on the body – both physical and emotional.

☾⋆*・゚: .⋆ Tips for reducing stress ⋆*・゚: .⋆ ☾
You can learn to manage stress and lead a happier, healthier live. You may want to begin with the following tips:
✫ Keep a positive attitude.
I know, this is easier said than done, but it's
very important to keep on trying
✩ Accept that there are events that you cannot control.
Think about school or work. Unfortunately,
it's not up to you how much work you have to
do. Just simply accepting this will help a lot.
✫ Be assertive instead of aggressive. Assert your
feelings, opinions, or beliefs instead of becoming angry, defensive, or ive.
Emotional control is important to stay in control
over yourself in general.
✩ Learn and practice relaxation techniques; try meditation, yoga, or tai-chi.
Okay, you don't HAVE to do this is you think
it's weird, but for it's very helpful for those,
including me sometimes, who do practice this.
✫ Exercise regularly. Your body can fight stress better when it is fit and it's mentally healthy.
Exercise is just as important for your mental
health as your physical health. It produces
'positive hormones' and keeps the brain fit just
like it keeps your body fit.
✩ Eat healthy, well-balanced meals.
It's proven that unhealthy food increases the
chance of negative emotions. This is mainly
because of the ingredients in it.
✫ Learn to manage your time more effectively.
Planning is very important. It only takes a
pretty short amount of time of your day and
it will make you feel a million times better
because everything is more clear now. There
are now limits you have to work to instead of
not always knowing what to do.
✩ Set limits appropriately and say no to requests that would create excessive stress in your life.
This was very difficult for me to doin the
beginning, because I usually never say no. But,
I learned how to say 'no' and it helped me SO
much. I have less to worry about.
✫ Make time for hobbies and interests.
Never forget to keep balance between effort
and relaxation. It's VERY important. Take
breaks, too. If you keep your brain working at
full speed, it will eventually have the opposite
effect. It will not be able to
information, facts and events etc. anymore.
✩ Get enough rest and sleep. Your body needs time to recover from stressful events.
This is very clear.
✫ Don’t rely on alcohol, drugs, or compulsive behaviors to reduce stress.
It would only male you feel worse. By doing this
you force yourself into a vicious circle of bad
emotions and happenings.
✩ Seek out social . Spend enough time with those you love.
This is something which helped me very much.
For example: At my worst, when I couldn't
study anymore at all for my FINALS, I went to
my dad's place where also my very young two
little energetic sister were. I thought studying
would be absolutely impossible then. But the
opposite of that happened. Their love and
their positive energy made that I got some
positive energy too, and i could study again.
✫ Seek treatment with a psychologist or other mental health professional trained in stress management or bio techniques to learn more healthy ways of dealing with the stress in your life.
Only if you feel like it's only getting worse or
you can't seem to handle your stress by
yourself, seek treatment. It will help.
✩ Stay in the present.
This is very important! Only thinking about
what's coming will not only make you worry
about things more, but it will make you less
concentrated too.
