By drama I am pointing to when a community devolves into yelling and becomes really toxic. I am not pointing to when people hold a creator able for something - that is completely fair. I am talking of a bombshell of sorts that creates a toxicity around a community.
If you have ever been on Twitter or YouTube you have definitely seen drama - and you have likely also seen that it doesn't turn out well. Here is why I think that is the case.

The problem with creating drama is it creates a lot of hate around the community - often pointed towards each other and other fans. This means that even if something starts out as well meaning and educational it can quickly escalate into an all out brawl.
When people are having discussion minds can be changed and problems can be fixed. When people are telling at each other clear sides are drawn and no one can learn anything in the chaos.
In some cases drama can even alienate other people creating the opposite effect then what was supposed to happen - pushing people away. This is not good for learning.

Every person has and will make mistakes. Now, it varies on the situation but chances are if you correct them then they can learn and change and grow from what they did. However if you tell at them and send death threats that won't work.
A lot of people really look up to content creators and put them on a pedestal which means it can feel like a really big betrayal when they turn out to be less perfect then they originally portrayed. This can cause a lot of emotions - which is fair.
However it's good to remind yourself that creators are human and will mistakes and it's up to everyone to make sure they correct rather then yell or scream.
(Of course this is dependent on what the creator did. If it something really against your morals I still recommend you try and explain your point calmly/ block and unfollow them rather then send death threats. This will make your point rather null otherwise.)

A lot of people find solace online in communities away from the real world. Drama is like a massive sledge hammer that can break that tranquility.
Communities can really come together and do great things when they want to. However all it takes is a loud minority to ruin things for everyone else.
For example there are a lot of kpop fans who mind their own business and don't get into drama, happy just look up to their idols and mind their own business. However due to a loud minority they are largely portrayed as a toxic and hateful community.
When this gets to it's worse it can even dissuade people from following these certain creators because they don't want to get involved in the drama that comes along with it. That is never a good thing and can actually end up hurting the creator(s).

Now of course this can really effect the mental health of the creator as often they will take the brunt of it and be sent death threats and hate by 1000's of people.
However it can also effect the mental health of fans. When they get dragged in deeply it is easy to let toxicity fill your head and leave you feeling worse then when you ed. This has the adverse effect of pushing you away from the community even more - which again ruins it for everyone else.

When you hear that someone has messed up it can be easy to fall into your emotions and jump onto the bandwagon - being dragged along by everyone else.
What I would suggest to do is either remove yourself from the situation ( unfollow the person) or try and rationally explain your opinions. If you tell or try and fight you will look like the bad person which is what you want to avoid.
Also, and I cannot stress this enough, DO NOT send death threats of any kind to anyone. That is awful behavior whether you like the person or not, it is not the way to go about it.
Lastly please make sure you look after yourself. Don't get too sucked in and forget about your own mental health. You are important too - don't forget that!
