obviously it’s not okay to erase the history of any term, but just because it was invented by black lesbians doesn’t mean it can’t be used by other people.

I guess nobody can stop a non-black lesbian from using the term "stud," but tbh its really annoying that not many people are aware that black ppl invented the term for their community in the first place. Words can evolve but at least acknowledge its origins
That's exactly what i was thinking. I've already started researching 80s and 90s drag ball culture for a project and it's amazing how many phrases came from the african-american/latino drag queens. I think as long as you're not racist/homophobic and you know where the phrases came from it's perfectly fine to use them.

Yepp black people rarely get credit for the things we invented. A huge example is music, people think black ppl invented rap and thats it. Like boi. Rock and roll, ska, dubstep, trap? All invented by black ppl. And again, non-black ppl can 100% use those genres, but never forget where it came from :triumph:
