► Tell us a bit about yourself, including your flaws!
I enjoy getting to know new people, learning different cultures and views of the world. I like helping people where I can and will do my best to make people feel welcome. My flaws are that I can be indecisive and too diplomatic when I shouldn't be. I am working on speaking my opinion with more confidence and assurance.
► Tell us why you'd like to be a curator and what you can offer to the team. Why should we choose you?
I have some experience with keeping the peace and stepping in when discussions get heated, with being host of a group chat. I feel I could use my experience as a starting point to build on and learn to use it when interacting with other of the LGBT+ community. Also, I feel it would help with my confidence to get out of my comfort zone.
► Do you have any prior leader or curator experiences?
I don't
► Have you ever broken a community guideline? If yes, explain briefly.
I was given a warning for having a flashy pfp, which I changed immediately after
Scenarios
1. You are the only one online. There has been a small swarm of trolls that have just entered the community. One is spamming the feed and the other spamming chats with inappropriate content. What is your course of action?
I would start by disabling the posts being spammed on the feed and then message other curators that are online to see if they can help with the spamming in the chats. Once we have the situation under control, I will a leader to inform them of what happened.
2. You have disabled a post for being considered spam. They are not happy and are starting to harass you and call you names. How do you handle the situation?
I would message the member in their dms and again explain why I disabled their posts and send them a link to the community guidelines. I would make it clear that what they are saying about me is harrament, and if they do not stop, I will take further actions and report them to a leader.
3. You are moderating a chat/post, and you see an altercation between 2 or more . What's your course of action?
I would listen and assess the situation once I have heard enough. I would give a warning that this is not the place for such altercations, and they should move on to a different topic. If they do not listen and the situation escalates, I will give one more warning. If they do not move on, I will start giving strikes.
4. A member is asking for your help with a situation in their PMs about someone asking inappropriate things. They have evidence to their claim. What do you do?
I would ask them to screenshot the inappropriate conversation and send me the link to the profile of the member in question. I would then asses the conversation, and if I see that it is in violation of the guidelines, I will report my findings to a leader. I would also tell the member who messaged to leave the conversation with the inappropriate member and to block them while the situation is being handled.
5. What would you do if you had a fight with another curator?
If I could see that the argument was escalating, I would say I am leaving this situation to cool off, and I think they should do the same. If it was a matter that needed to be addressed again, I would go into it in a professional and controlled manner.
6. What would you do if you had a fight with a leader?
I would professionally state my reasoning for the disagreement, but if my statement was still not the answer needed, I would step back and let the final decision be the leaders. I'd take it as a learning experience.
7. What would you do if a member has been posting about sensitive, triggering topics?
I would disable the triggering posts and message the member to tell them why I disabled their posts and give them a link to the community guidelines.
8. You get a report about member of staff abusing their power. How would you approach this situation?
I would ask the member reporting to screenshot any evidence, and I would report it to a leader. I would advise the reporting member not to address the curator in question and to leave the situation to staff.
9. You see a chat/post with people saying negative things about staff/a certain staff member. Do you do?
I would disable the post and message the member that what they are saying is not appropriate to be posting publicly and could be classed as harassment. If I were to see it in a chat I would delete any messages referring to the staff member and warn the involved to move on with the conversation and to not talk negatively about staff in a public chat room.
10. You see a curator leaking sensitive information to a member. What do you do?
I would screenshot any evidence I see and report it straight to a leader.
