hiya! your local wannabe soft girl

here with a new post on tips about

arguments and how to stay calm

during them. I personally struggle

with arguments so I feel like this

should be a good guide for others too!

╔═════════════╗

don't raise your voice

╚═════════════╝

science has proven that lowering

your voice when arguments are

close to occurring calms the mood,

not only is this a good way to calm

the mood but lowering your voice

also lets you become less angry

and more at ease. so if you're

looking to avoid an argument or

just want to calm a situation down

lowering the amount of anger and

calming the tone of your voice

is a great way to do this.

╔═════════════╗

focus on the other person

╚═════════════╝

some people in arguments tend to

think that everything the other

person is saying is personal to you.

the truth is, in anger people will

naturally say things they don't mean

however, some things they do say

may just be a harsher way of

telling you what they really think.

it's important to try and understand

what the other person is trying

to say in order to calm the argument.

not everything they say they will mean

but it's helpful to try and look at

the bigger picture sometimes.

╔═════════════╗

body posture

╚═════════════╝

in arguments it's important to

look at your body posture, try

to maintain a tall posture. this

is important as aggressive positions

like crossing your arms or leaning

can create an extra sense of

anger which may escalate the

argument and offend the other

person.

╔═════════════╗

breathe

╚═════════════╝

this tip seems like a no-brainer

but a lot of people forget to take

deep breaths in arguments,

when you want to calm stressful

situations down or make yourself

feel more calm, breathing deeply

is a great way to do this.

╔═════════════╗

don't stockpile

╚═════════════╝

stockpiling is where you bring

problems from the past into the

current argument. if you want

the argument to calm down then

don't bring up past events, this

just escalates the argument.

try to focus on the current matter

and a solution will be found

quicker.
