A Short Goodbye

It has been fun though time has ticked

Hour by hour slipping through fingers

A merciful voice to ease the storms

A patient hand to guide through night

Point to the brightest star and follow it

It is nearing an end, music falters

Ill timed fate in a mis-stepped dance

A fast paced reality clashing harshly

A few missed moves in a chess game

Find the right strategy and enjoy it

It was a crashing tumble into icy water

Unexpected and cold, then it's gone

A glimmering familiarity of what was

A few ingrained habits that continue

Untraining and detaching, but waiting

It is with regret that some will leave

For others it is neccessary for sanity

A brick to fill the gaps of emotion

A cut off point for those once known

A short goodbye from the shadow
