Eta 2 Actis light interceptor! #CLONEWARS2020

So I felt like making a thingy for the clone wars challenge (because that era of star wars is friggen lit), more specifically I wanted to do an Eta 2 from episode 3 that,unlike the sets, is actually properly scaled to the minifigures. Anyway, this is the result!

Unfortunately, it came with some compromises, mainly the fact that I could not conceive of any possible way to make those S-foils without it looking incredibly thick and wonky, so I just made this permanently be in "cruising mode" or whatever it's called. I also did not quite get the cockpit window right, like I got the overall shape of the cockpit decently well, but a lot more of that should be light grey. Thirdly, I didn't make any landing gear for it. There is a chance I could've done it, but... well, I couldn't be bothered.

Anyway, onto the stuff I *did* do!

The underside was kinda fun, because it really got me to see some sides of the ship I hadn't before, like those angled out bits on the side of the fuselage, and the fact that not only does it have a little pod thing sticking out beneath for the astromech to sit in, but it has that on the side without an astromech too for some reason! (In hindsight, those pods probably should have been a tad bit more prominent, as they're barely visible as is... welp)

Another fun little challenge was to have this small section be a connection point between the fuselage, those s on the side of it, those angled bits on the ventral side and the wing. In the end, I'm pretty happy with it.

For the cannons, the primary ones were kinda easy, just had to experiment a slight bit to get the length right, and to be able to fit it as snugly to the cockpit window as possible. What was far more of a pain in the ass were those small ion cannons on the sides, like I swear I went thru like a dozen slightly different designs/pieces just to get that one detail right...
