Probation Explained

Being a leader on a community, you may or may not have had the experience of being under a community probation. I’ve noticed a lot of different posts asking why they were put under probation, how long it lasts, and even what happens when you’re on probation. These are all questions that I plan on answering in this blog, so stay tuned!

What is Probation?

You have just logged into your community, but OH NO! A large white pop up has come up that reads “Probation Warning!” This means your Amino is now under probation. In this pop up, it is important to read the text inside. It will state exactly why your Amino is under probation, how to fix it, and where to go/who to if you have any questions OR if you need to transfer leader status.

Probation can come up for a few various things, but the most common I’ve seen is lack of staff activity. This is huge because not only is the time based on your fellow leaders, but any inactive curators will ALSO drag down your average time spent in the community. Everyone on your staff team must meet the 5-10 minutes a day threshold if you want to avoid probation for lack of activity.

Important things to note:

•After meeting the warnings threshold, TA to remove it.

•Probation time varies, just make sure to keep your staff activity up or you may face changes made by TA in your staff team such as losing the agent leader status. Be patient.

•As I said previously, any inactive leaders and curators drag down your time spent in the community.

•Probation means you’re on close watch by Team Amino until the problem is fixed.

•Probation can be thought of as a strike against your community, so try to fix what is stated in the warning ASAP!

Why You’re On Probation

Other than lack of activity, there are other reasons why your community could be on probation. Down below are just a few more reasons:

•Lack of activity

•Overstepped boundaries as Leader/power abuse

•You let flags pile up in the flag center instead of taking care of them

Any of these reasons could be why you’re on probation and the warning pop up will tell you why and how to deal with it. And of course, If you ever have any questions, Team Amino with the form who will get back to you when they can.

How to Avoid Probation

Avoiding probation isn’t a hard task as long as you avoid the reasons why your community could be placed onto the probation list.

All you need to do is keep up your staff activity. If you’re having trouble keeping your staff active, maybe create jobs for each of them to do or assign them all a weekly blog to create for the community. It will not only help put your community activity, but also keep your staff and you more active, which will be sure to help you avoid probation for the reasons of lack of activity.

Check your flag center often and deal with all of your flags as soon as possible, even if they’re false. Just make sure you always take care of your flags and empty out the flag center. Don’t let your flags pile up, as it seems like you’re inactive and you could end up losing your agent leader status due to letting this happen.

Make sure to not power abuse or go against any Amino Guidelines. This is sure to either get you banned or get your agent status title removed during probation and given to someone else more fit to run your community. Disrupting the peace of amino and abusing your powers or the guidelines is inexcusable, so avoid it at all costs.
